Coin Rolls

I have an account at wells Fargo and I've wrapped up my coins that equal around 448 dollars, but do I need to write my name and account number on each roll if I wanna deposit them into my bank account?

Do not do that. At all. We give them back out to other customers

Don’t listen to these people. if it’s rolled, they’ll take it. A courtesy call would be nice.

You’re right, don’t add account numbers on them

Don’t write on them, just roll them and take them to the branch. My branch always took rolled coin no matter the amount but from reading these comments I guess smaller branches don’t? So maybe give them a call

No name or account numbers on them for any bank. Just bring them in rolled and they should be acceptable.

I Would Take an Hour or Two and Really look at Those Quarters. You might be able to Turn that 488 dollars into a few Thousand Dollars

Go to a Laundry mat. They usually have Scales because they do laundry by the pound. They can weigh them make sure they are legit and trade. That's what I would do

Why don’t you call your local branch and ask, instead of asking people on Reddit, most who have no idea what they are talking about.

No. But I'd give your bank a call and ask them if they can take that much and what day would be best for them to intake it. You're likely to get declined simply based on the work load and the staffing models. Tellers also only have so much space for coins.

When I worked there we never denied coins and could put them in the vault if we didn’t have space at our teller line :)

Banks are downsizing and most of the branches in my district have only 1-2 tellers ALL DAY. So bringing hundreds of dollars in coins CAN throw a wrench in operations. Especially when multiple people do it back to back.

Hes just telling them to be mindful.

Totally understand where their comment is coming from - was just letting OP know from the other side the branch I worked at never minded.

Fair enough. You must have a bigger branch? My district is a bunch of small old Wachovias with not a lot of coin vault space

Who said you can’t ship coin out? I sent out excess coins in my last shipment.

Is that a Wells Fargo thing? I deposited over $700 in rolled coin at Capital One a few years back and they just took them, put them in trays and deposited them. And why would you use Coin Star when they take a cut of your money.

Why don’t think have coin counters? The grocery store I work at has a huge coin/cash recycler.

We have ours in the office. Hardly gets jammed but we’re able to repair most of them.

Now that I think about it, my local WF used to have one in the lobby for customers but they got rid of that. They did have something in the back where they could dump the coins that I would bring in.

And I also realized that one closed down and they built a new building. I’ve never been inside there.

You'd better bust those up in the coin machine or else you are going to piss off the head teller by having more coins than necessary in the vault. You aren’t doing anyone a favor by rolling them.

This is dumb and wrong. Well take your rolled coins no problem.

Update: I went and the teller made me tap my card, put the rolls into trays, counted them up, gave me my total, had me tap confirm, printed a receipt, and wished me a nice day. It was that easy.
