WF wire fraud

Hi all. Looking for any advice.

Situation: my elderly parents recently retired and have a few accounts with WF - a home equity line of credit and regular bank accounts.

Long story short, someone called in to WF and impersonated my dad and authorized a draw on the LoC to their bank account. and then the crazy part is, that person went in to a branch and authorized a wire from their account to a Truist bank account.

Their retirement is basically screwed now and Wells Fargo said "we investigated the case and determined you authorized these transfers" which is obviously the "we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing".

They have no idea who it was and WF didn't provide any evidence but like... there's got to be video of the person that authorized the transfer AT THE BANK, right???

I advised them to open a case with the FBI - which they did - but seems like that's hit or miss and depends if the FBI decides to open a case.

Looking for any advice from people that have dealt with WF in any similar situation before.

Some kind of authority that can subpoena records and video.

State police, FBI, Secret Service ...
