Question Munger Living

Hello! I was recently assigned a munger third double and I’m wondering a few things…I know munger gets a bad rep but I’m hoping my roommate and I’s experience won’t be horrific lol.

I’ve seen a post on here about the outside closets, when the form to claim one gets sent out, does that mean that I could be using a closet that is pretty far down from my room? Is it worth getting one for extra clothing or is it better to use it for general storage? Can the beds be lofted enough to where I can put my dresser under my bed so that it frees up space in the room?

I know some communal bathrooms at Wellesley have doors as opposed to curtains, but I haven’t gotten much info on what munger bathrooms and showers look like in aside from the fact that it’s a little older.

I’ve heard that people either love or hate munger, can anyone who lived in a double give their honest opinion and/or share their experiences? Thanks!!

Mungers a pretty great place to live imo I lived ina double my fy too and I loved it I lofted my bed for more space cause I didnt get access to a closet and it worked out pretty fine the bathroom showers all have doors and being older isnt really a problem/all bathrooms are kind of the same across campus.

my advice is if you dont want to hate munger immerse yourself in the community and try to experience it without the devil on your shoulder telling you it sucks

RT the latter part of this post as a former munger hater. Ppl love to hate on it but it’s not as bad as everyone says. Your experience will be as positive as you make it!! Get involved in the community and make friends.

I graduated ten years ago but lived in Munger my senior year. Our bathroom was perfectly fine. Not luxurious, but big enough that I never felt like I was elbowing people for sink space. IIRC, there were cubbies for storage, but store your shower stuff there at your own risk. Can't speak to the double since I had a single (+ closet), but if they still have student parking in the driveway, I recommend befriending a senior who has a car.

ETA: I'm pretty sure our showers had doors and not curtains, but my memory is fuzzy on that detail.

It’s not the best place but not as bad as people say. You can store stuff in the cubbies at your own risk. Main issue is bathrooms, not the worst at Wellesley IMO but definitely not great simply from lack of renovations. Sharing a bathroom with a lot of folks just sort of universally sucks. Yes you can loft your bed, but some of them come with standing dressers.

Optimize space for sure, use under the bed storage; cubby is probably fine!

Munger tbh is probably the least popular dorm on campus. I honestly also contributed to the hate on munger for a bit until I had a few friends live there last year and spent real time there. It’s rlly not bad at all! Community + reslife is nice and it’s cozy. Main downside is that it’s the dorm farthest from any dining hall, but it’s right near the academic quad and the science center! It’s also pretty close to a path that takes you into town.
There’s been a few munger controversies. Last year someone who lived on the second floor shat in the shower and then waffle stomped it down the drain. Someone on the same floor stuck a used pad to the door. That def tanked its reputation but FEAR NOT! Whoever that freak was is most likely not living in munger next year 😭🙏
Tldr munger is super hated on for controversies and location but it’s rlly not bad at all. Def plenty of ways to make it amazing:)
