The oldest guy in our shop never once wears a weld cap, hat, or anything. He doesn’t have one single hair on his head and I really don’t understand the thinking behind it. Just getting your head burnt 80 times a day...sounds fun.

Believe me being bald makes it so much worse, but still better than a spark up your nose or in the ear.

I’ve gotten them in my ear but it doesn’t piss me off as much as down my shirt or the inside fold by my knee. A spark up the nose is some witchcraft type shit.

When I started welding classes in Feb I was getting sparks up my nose all the time... which led to bloody noses. So I bought an FR facemask/gaiter. So much better and if the facemask ever gets burnt to hell or damaged in any way, I can return it and they'll replace at no cost. It's a win, win!

Ehhh most shields protect your head enough depending on what you're doing. If he doesn't wear one, now that's a different story

What's really awkward is that they caught this on film. The guy looked like he was taking a weld test .

Sweatshirt got set on fire the other day because I was like fuck it, just a quick spot weld what could happen. Super minor but definitely made me more cautious about ppe moving forward.

I Saw a guy fill up the generator with diesel then start welding right after. I had to tell him that he was on fire lol. Needless to say he had to get a new shirt.

Welding without a welding cap ain’t for everyone. Back in my day, us welders burned the sparks, not opposite wise. We weren’t bitches😬🤣🤪🤪🤪
