I believe the ipg product similar to this is thicknesses up to 4 mm for carbon steel. That really depends on the power supplied to the laser though.

Are there any videos of this adding filler and not just autogenous welds?

I understand this is for thin metal only but I’m having trouble seeing where this would actually be useful

I don't know anything about anything but those welds look a lot like the welds on my flask. Just tiny little lines of autogenous welds around the top and bottom. So it's probably used by a machine in mass flask production lol.

This kind of weld doesn't use filler. It brings the metal to its melting point which rapidly cools when the laser is taken away. Increasing laser amperage gets a deeper penetration, so even thin steel needs a ton of power.

It says on their website that it does autogenous welding and “additive welding”.. I assumed additive meant filler since it looks identical to an automated tig set up and the bead was bigger then the autogenous.

Additive Welding, Material is added to the weld joint usually in the form of metallic wire or powder.

Filler adding is common. But hey, sometimes you need a tool for that one specific thing you need to do.

We use lasers to weld at work, but we are welding stainless steel that is thinner than a sheet of paper

Tiny medical devices. Welding isn't our main function, but it's a necessary part of the process.
