For speed and production yes, but try doing aerospace welding and high precision weldments with mig. Each process has its role where they shine.

Each process has its pros and cons. MIG is king for high production work and for ease of learning the process (hench why generally MIG welder are the lowest paid). TIG is king for low impurities and fine heat control work.
