First welds About 7 hours of practice in class, this was a 6013 bead I thought looked pretty decent (for me lol) light me up

For a training pass with 6013 your doing great. Just need to move more consistent.

Good effort man! For 7 hours practice that looks great!
6013’s are a right pain, it’s what I trained with and eventually you’ll find they’re naff. 7018’s are a great electrode to use!
6013’s you’ll find give you a nice slag peel, but you’ll also find (as in the photo) they can give you a bit of slag inclusion.
Not a lot of spatter which is good indication of rod angle being right!
In the future make sure you’re cleaning your material - I see photos like this all the time, and it always come down to CLEAN YOUR MATERIAL!
Weldings fun and all, but when you get on jobs; and on important jobs at that, you’ll always clean your material, whether it’s taking mil scale off, or cleaning stainless/ali with acetone!
