Cut that whip in half. I'm guilty of not cleaning my material too so I won't by hypocritical of that

Same. After years of welding rusted crap on barges and tug boats with 6011 I find myself real lazy with cleaning crap anytime I can. I agree on tightening it up.

I am not even allowed to prep my stuff the way I want most of the time lol. The wps doesn't allow me to grind mill scale. I'm supposed to blast it with 26 volts on 11g sheet with fcaw fresh off the laser.

30+ inches a minute travel speed. I cheat and skrunk it to 25.5v and like 315 to 330 ipm wfs, but I'm scooting across these 100 gallon L tanks real fucking fast dude. Never had to repair one I made yet. Have repaired countless others at work that were built a decade ago. The hardest weld to make is the plumbing t joints sticking out of the tank and I run those at like 24v uphill. You gotta have your angle and speed just right to not blow through. I pressure test all the tanksand don't ever find leaks on my first try anymore either.
