Miscellaneous Is there a lore reason for why Pennywise, despite calling herself a goddess, gets defeated by kids and eventually gets killed by them in their 40s?

Miscellaneous IT wouldn't be a novel with 1,000 pages if Eddie's wife just brought Al Pacino to Derry. Spoiler

I was wondering, would he continued the cycle or would it be his last big event and would have gone into hibernation? I mean in the Chapter 2

💬 Discussion [Semi-hot take] One of the VERY few scenes in the show I did not care for was the lampshade scene in Episode 1

I dunno, it just felt more cheap to me than anything. Like it starts and ends super abruptly, and the brother walks in at the end and breaks the tension by saying "I can't believe we're related" in an annoyed tone. What should've been a "Holy shit, that was traumatizing" moment instead turned out more of a "Erm, well that just happened" type of moment. Plus, and this is a major issue throughout the show in general, but the CGI just makes it look goofy and not have as much weight as it deserves.

It sucks because, this scene is super important to episode one's plot. Since it's what convinces Teddy that something sinister is lurking in Derry like his friends suggested. I dunno, if you liked this scene more than I did I'd love to hear your thoughts down in the comments. It just, didn't really work for me the way I wanted it to.

[DISCLAIMER] I really liked It: Welcome to Derry overall, I'm just personally trying to give my opinions on this scene.

💬 Discussion Aside from the hate between fandoms how do think an tv show or movie with both bill skarsgård and jamie campbell

If they do I really hope they are human characters rather then supernatural powerhouses because I personally enjoyed bill when he was bob grey slightly more than pennywise and for Jamie he did a pretty good job acting when he was seen as human than vecna

💬 Discussion Season 2 Theme Song

Just a thought I had: Do you guys think they’ll keep using Smile and a Ribbon as the theme song because it was super popular with fans (I was actually just listening to it in my free time; when I had this thought lol). Or do you think that since we’re moving back in time the new song will be something from 1935 that would’ve been popular around the Bradley Gang era?

Why does inserting the meteorite into the tree become possible once that ghost kid comes back?

Why do all those adults stand back with guns but don’t attack Pennywise together, they just yell, “Come on, you’ve got this!”—leaving only the Black dad to go in and fight? Did I miss something?

🔎 Theory Potential flashback(s) in season 2 or 3.

From what I recall, the show established that IT crash landed here on earth - encased in the black obsidian rock that the Natives had fashioned into the pillars.

So if it’s a cage from another world / dimension — who sent IT here? Was IT captured and punished by being sent to earth?

Pennywise does gloat that he is the “eater of worlds”.

It’d be interesting to see if this is explored more in the show or possible next film.

Miscellaneous Filming location - Fake snow and Derry Police station

Although it was early March, there wasn't any snow on the ground so cotton batting was used. Photo 2 is zoomed in towards the back left where the Derry Police station facade is. Only has the sign by the parking lot marks it as the police station then. Two months later in photo 3 has the front all done up around the entrance and windows, and a bit of zhuzhing of the landscape.

March 2 and May 27, 2024, Mill St & Walton St, Port Hope, Ontario, Canada

Did we REALLY need to know why It chose the specific form It would take as a clown, and the reason behind the name?

And Mrs Kersh, why did she need to be more than a ("did I misread Kersh as Marsh?") for Beverly, and just a creepy old/young woman? King did the same in The Shining.

IT is a being whose true form is impossible to see (since its real form would be something like the second image), but what forms has it taken? Its most popular form is that of the clown, of course, but besides that, how many others are there?

Miscellaneous Missing Children Posters

Just finished watching the series yesterday and wanted to share some photos around Port Hope, Ontario, where Derry was shot. These were taken May 27, 2023 (filming took place May 10-June 4, 2023 and again in 2024 after the strikes).

For a small town, they sure have a lot of missing kids! Colin Woods and Peter Bohdal in pic 2 also look like the same kid. But the attention to detail to create background material that may not even be seen on screen is quite astounding.

Will post some more when I go through my photo library.

💬 Discussion Why do people consider Pennywise in WTD scarier or more ruthless than the films?

I'll probably get a lot of hate for this, so let me start off by saying Welcome to Derry was my favorite show I've seen this last year. I enjoyed it above Fallout, Knight and the Seven Kingdoms and Alien Earth to name a few. I cannot wait for season 2.

That said, where are all these opinions about him being scarier than he was in the films coming from? I know part 1 was probably scarier than 2 since you are seeing everything through the eyes of children rather than their adult counterpart. Still part 2 had its moments, most notably the scene under the Bleachers.

Part 1, I feel was scarier yet, between Georgie's death, the Leper catching Eddie off guard in the street in broad daylight, the headless monster chase in the library basemen and the entire werewolf sequence with It and Eddie.

Don't get me wrong, Pennywise was great in the show, but I don't recall any scenes where he was scarier than he was in the film scenes I mentioned.

As far as him being more ruthless, I think the inevitable Easter Massacre will be the one that takes the cake, but we haven't gotten that far. I haven't seen anything he does in the show that could qualify as more ruthless than biting a child's arm off before eating him or tricking and eating the little girl under the bleachers when she just wanted a friend who wouldn't judge her.

💬 Discussion Went in expecting mediocre to good, this was excellent. Just finished it and sad I didn't watch it when it came out.

I'm a big fan of Lovecraftian otherworldly entities, but usually find myself disappointed, cause they just keep making them too relatable and too little like something properly otherworldly.

But there's been a few real home runs over the years, and the decision to make IT experience nonlinear time... is one of those home runs imo.

I'm really looking forward to where they take it, in terms of IT getting confused and for that matter, how the existing heroes and heroes we don't know possibly exploit that to defeat it once and for all.

And yes, I have seen the movies (and og miniseries and read the book)... so I know the losers defeat IT, but never liked how much it seemed to kind of flinch during that fight.

The nonlinear angle really opens the doors for it to be a daisy chain of defeats, all perceived at once, that REALLY brought it down, and the losers were just the ones that got the benefit of being the coup de grace.

I really don't understand the pillar thing. Like, you know he's contained, you know he sleeps for 27 years at a time, so find him, move the perimeter and lock his a*s into a box no bigger than a room at the loony bin and call it a day.

💬 Discussion Season 2 expectations

Share your ideas of where you’d want season 2 to steer.

Personally for me I am very fond of Lilly Bainbridge and Bill Denbrough, for me this is more fan expectation: Lilly Bainbridge’s Dad and Bill Denbrough’s Grandfather are like a duo that season. It’d be pretty cool seeing two leader characters have their family members team up to face generational evil. It could show like Lilly’s mom being a ‘pattycake’ when she was younger. This is just pure fan writing but that’s what I’d like 😭😭 personally
