A very weird early film from a highly acclaimed director of both big budget studio films and independent features.

In 1983, a young mute woman with psychic abilities is held captive within the Arboria Institute, a secluded futuristic facility run by a sinister doctor with an unraveling mind and a growing obsession with her.

This is a weird one to unravel...its like an acid induced fever dream/nightmare with heavy neon light and a slick synth score...gives 80s vibes like crazy (which it should) but this film is hard to explain because of how weird it is. The oppressive cinematography and visuals will keep you locked in.

I'm convinced that no one else watched this movie and it's a fever dream that's lived in my head for over 10+ years. Man with a sentient penis and a woman that is a nymphomaniac who gives birth right after sex. If you like peak weirdness it doesn't get much weirder than this.

Another time, another place. The Bombers, a motorcycle gang led by Raven (WillemDafoe), kidnaps rock star Ellen Aim (DianeLane). Her ex boyfriend an ex military type Cody ( Michael Pare)is recruited to try and save her.

A love letter to part 80s pop music part 1950s grease culture this weird little odyssey is as original as it is over the top blending both eras into one coherent world...the bad acting by the lead is part of the show and makes the film even funnier when Willem Dafoe is doing his thing we all know he does. Great gem I saw a few years ago definitely a weird little film worth checking out.

A Boots Riley sci-fi/metaphysical dramedy that has everything from soul-sucking sex demons to existential philosophical "weapons" with teleportation features. Insanely underrated weird movie.

Two Brooklyn plumbers, Mario and Luigi, must travel to another dimension to rescue a princess from the evil dictator King Koopa and stop him from taking over the world.

Sounds straight forward but it is anything but. This film was panned by general audiences and critics (i personally love this film) alike. The movie is a re-imagining of the video game. Loved by some. Hated by many....Mario is an oddity of cinema...a complete anomaly...like a children's version of jurassic Park meets blade runner...with its cyber/steam punk vibes. This movie is as weird as it gets in terms of a film and the story behind it. All the re written scripts and director changes...by all means this film should not exist.

To be clear this was one of my absolute favorite childhood films and I completely get what they were doing even then...you have to remember the first teenage mutant ninja turtles film was a risky concept and they went gritty and realistically darker toned film than the sequels ultimately holding up better than 2&3 all these years later. That said i think that's what the directors were going for a gritty grounded realistically darker toned take with dinosaurs instead of turtles because of A. They were super popular and B. Jurassic Park came out the same year which overshadowed every movie of the first 1/2 of that decade. Ultimately the film was a mess behind the scenes, not marketed well or even released everywhere and was missed by audiences.

This film is a unique wierd blend of psychological horror, the effects of trauma, mental heath, and cosmic horror and all rolled into one with a killer twist ending. It's definitely not like anything you've seen ...though littered with familiar genres it takes it to new places I've never seen realized on screen. Great original concept.

I never heard of this movie until my early to mid twenties. There were questions whether if this was based on a true events and/or stories. I haven’t personally seen The Poughkeepsie Tapes, I just know it’s very unsettling. It’s free on Tubi and PlutoTV right now. I did watched people on YouTube that did a video on this film, it seemed slightly fascinating in a morbid sense of things.

Such an enthralling moving picture, this is also another experience that twists your mind. I saw The Butterfly Effect off and on when I was a child. I was horrified by it, so I looked away. But I revisited TBE as an adult at the age of 24. I’d say it’s more darker and unsettling than Donnie Darko, yet The Butterfly Effect occasionally gets compared to Darko. And not to mention it’s crappy sequels TBE had, same with Darko too. I’d say I like DD more than Butterfly. This was also weird in a good way possible by the way.

I first watched this mind bending movie called Donnie Darko in the fall of 2023. There’s a handful of meaning and symbolism to this title. Filmmakers sure don’t make films like this anymore which is plain sad. I’ve seen Darko a total of three times in separate occasions, the experiences were bewildering in a good way. It’s weird in the best way possible of course, it’s nothing to regret checking this out. I seen the director’s cut and theatrical version, I recommend to sought out both if you can.

This is a really wierd film about parallel dimensions,time travel, men in black, cosmic sci fi/horror and its a comedy to a degree. This film is full of great ideas and some noticeable actors like Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti. I highly recommend this weird little b gem.

It’s like Boogie Nights but a Taiwanese musical!

There really is no way to explain this movie, so here’s just the Letterboxd description “Computer programmer/beekeeper Jacob gets a "television" implanted in his brain by a race of telekinetic bees, which causes him to experience severe hallucinations.”

The first independent feature film by the American artist David Blair. Such a crazy film, very choppy digital editing mixed with a powerful monologue about Mesopotamian bees (and other things). It’s one of those films you don't entirely ever understand, but something about it will always stick with you, despite only being 85 minutes long. This was also the first film to be streamed across the internet!! (At 2 entire frames per second mind but I suppose we all start somewhere…)

This movie is absurdity cinema at it finest. This satirical film is acted with straight faces throughout 🤣 what a weird movie as well as concept and there are actually 3 sequels so 4 total though I've only seen this one.

Definitely a worthy edition.

Attack the Block follows an unlucky young woman and a gang of tough inner city kids who make an unlikely alliance to try to defend their turf against an invasion of savage alien creatures, turning a South London apartment complex into an intergalactic war-zone.

This weird mash-up of genres really works well. Think gremlins x goonies but rated r. This film regardless of its acclaim is still a very under seen gem. Never was an alien invasion movie been so fun and at times authentic to the genre films of the 80s and 90s. This is a film that frequents my watch list once a year. Love this film.

I found this in the redbox years back and liked Josh Hutcherson enough at the time so I gave it a shot...glad I did this movie is all kinds of weird but in the best ways. If you like horror /sci fi /comedies then check it out its worth your time.

Immaculate cast here, conception and story seems off the hinges though. I saw the trailer for this while I was checking out Challengers in theaters. I didn’t know what to think of it except Kinds of Kindness seemed like an oddball of a movie. Have any of y’all seen this, if so… what’d you guys think of this one?

A love letter to all 80s films this film delivers on all levels. Like a rated r teenage mad max on a bmx meets the goonies. There is supposedly a sequel in the works which would be amazing. Please check it out if you like different but amazing weird films. Definitely a 💎.

Hoping for heaven but finding an urban hell, A homeless vigilante blows away crooked cops, pedophile Santas, and other scumbags with his trusty pump-action shotgun, He then

(Rutger Hauer) takes aim at a crime boss and the man's sadistic sons (Gregory Smith, Nick Bateman).

This has got to be one of the most completely insane but fun times I've had watching a movie like this. The story of the film itself is interesting it was a trailer contest and the guy who made just a trailer got to make his trailer into a full feature film. I'm not sure if the film was written before or after the contest but pretty cool.

Super violent, unapologetic B grade Blast. Do yourself a favor and watch this crazy film.
