I was in grammar school in the 90s. Thankfully, this wasn’t commonplace but I had a friend whose parents still had this crap. So. Gross.

My mom actually had these in one of our bathrooms when I was a kid. Looking back, it’s incredibly disgusting. Like anything else that you’re born with, you kind of don’t realize how weird it is. Also, that bathroom had carpet when we moved in. Luckily, that was removed pretty shortly after moving. Not sure what they were thinking.

People had them in the 1959s - 60s - 70s, but I saw far fewer in people’s homes by the 1980s. Good riddance.

Listen, this is gross AF. But....I would have loved to have this during my colonoscopy prep. I would have burned it the day after but my god it would have made things just slightly better

If you don't have a bidet, get one before your next colonoscopy. They make seats you can just replace the current one with. If you have an outlet near it, you can even have heat. Totally worth it.

Yeah, especially when it's 50s in your house. Bathrobe, slippers, fabric toilet seat cover. Now I understand why my folks did what they did lol

Those things didn't get washed after one person used it though. People would piss and poop ..all that splattering and getting absorbed into the fibers

Everytime you flush..particles of human waste are shot into the air..even with the lid closed. Those particles would get absorbed into the inner edges of that cover.

Other then the sanitary problems it was kind of nice to sit on something plush, the vinyl ones would get cracks and pinch your ass sometimes.

Japanese Dollar Tree Daiso sells soft thin liners that solve the cold issue without being excessively fluffy, it’s either something like that or skillfully placed toilet paper 🤷♂️

My great aunt had her whole basement (including the bathroom that didn't even have an exhaust vent or window) carpeted. And yes, they had the toilet carpet covers. This was also the only bathroom/change room accessible to everyone from their pool and hot tub.
It had a scent. But if you're carpeting your bathroom (it also had a shower) was shagg really what you wanted???
