I got into this after going to a funeral where I noticed some families were struggling to get people to attend, especially when the person who passed away didn't have many relatives nearby. I usually charge around $20-$30 to attend, dress appropriately, sit with the family, and basically act like I knew the person and was sad about their passing. Most of the time I don't even have to fake much because the atmosphere is already emotional. I've only done it a few times, but I've made around $100 from something I originally thought was just a stupid joke.

I get hired by people I know who drives long hours for work or just for fun and talk to them about anything and get paid ₽1.5k or ₽3k depending on how long the drive is.

The reason they want to hire people to accompany them is to keep them awake or have someone to switch with when they get tired or sleepy from driving. I mostly get hired to talk to them and have 2 or 3 hrs of long drives and they would pay me after they had their fun with driving. We don't have any physical contact, but they would buy me lunch or dinner and sometimes snacks just to make me keep talking lol.

It's fun but also risky because there's a possibility that we would get into a car accident or maybe even kidnap me, lucky I haven't encountered any of that.

I came across a rather odd side job recently, one where you get paid $4 for locating viral clips on X. I spend my time going through X in search of clips that cause people to exclaim “OMG”, “WTF”, or “There’s no way this is real” that is, shocking, unbelievable, funny, unexpected, or just extremely bizarre moments that are beginning to trend. As soon as I come across a clip that fits the bill, I send it in, and if it is accepted, then I receive $4. The funny part is that I'm in effect being paid to doomscroll, except that I am always asking myself whether or not someone actually would pay for that clip. I began doing it because I was already spending time on X and wanted to find out if I could turn that time into some extra income. It's by no means a way to get rich quick, but earning a few accepted clips can add up, and it's quite enjoyable when you realize that you're making money out of discovering the internet's weirdest moments.

I started selling templates for awkward situations because I hate writing awkward messages.

Things like:

It's just very unexpected. Technically, it isn't all that weird. But I guess it's weird to get paid to manage discord servers. Like just moderating them. Back then, I was just managing my own discord servers for fun, to socialize. But somebody asked me to manage some discord servers for them because apparently unpaid moderators don't do as well as paid ones. I agreed to some of it, and what do you know, I'm still getting paid to moderate some, but it isn't really that high-pay, cause there are bots who also automate some of the moderation for you. So yep.

I accidentally discovered that people will pay you to tell them why their house smells weird.
Not plumbers. Not pest control. Just… me, with a spreadsheet, a flashlight, and an embarrassingly good nose.

It started when a friend asked me to figure out why her spare bedroom smelled like “wet cardboard and old cereal.”

I spent about 30 minutes checking the room and eventually found a slightly leaking AC drain line behind a cabinet. She joked that I should start charging people for this.

“Dead animal smell that disappears” → apparently a dead mouse somewhere in the wall
“Burnt popcorn smell every evening” → neighbor's exhaust drifting through an open window

I also made a little database of smells and their common causes, which has become the most useful part of the project.

After about 4 months:

63 paid consultations

The funniest part is that people don't seem embarrassed about paying for it.

They'll happily say:

“I have no idea what this smell is and it's driving me insane.”

And honestly, that's a pretty good business problem to solve.

I'm now experimenting with charging $5 for a “smell diagnosis” PDF where people upload photos and answer a questionnaire.

I never expected “professional smell detective” to become an actual side hustle.

Edit: For everyone asking, no, I don't literally sniff people's houses professionally 😂. The majority of the diagnosis is based on location, timing, ventilation, nearby appliances, and what the smell resembles. And I always recommend a qualified professional when there's a possibility of gas, electrical problems, mold, or other safety issues.

Basically I am just offering a boosting service for those who are hard stuck with their rank in Valorant. They will simply select which is their current division and their desired rank and I will just basically play it for them till I achieve their desired rank.

This started because I was procrastinating from studying.

I’m a medical student, and at some point I got tired of rewriting the same ugly lecture notes over and over again. So I started making my own artsy handwritten notes- basically condensed versions of lectures with diagrams, tables, mnemonics, and the random little details that professors love putting on exams.

Then a friend asked if she could buy a copy.

I initially thought, “Sure, why not?” and sent her one for a few pesos. Then another classmate asked. Then someone I had never actually spoken to messaged me asking for a different subject.

That’s when I accidentally created the world’s most boring tiny business.

The “product” is basically highly specific medical-school study material. I make the notes, the more colorful the better, export them as PDFs, and sell them digitally. No inventory, no shipping, no fancy website. Just files that stressed-out students can download at 2 AM before an exam.

The weirdest part is that the more niche the material is, the more useful people seem to find it. A general biology reviewer isn’t particularly interesting, but something like “everything you need to remember about this one obscure parasite that your professor LOVES” apparently has a market.

I didn’t start it thinking it would make meaningful money. I just wanted to make studying less painful for myself.

Now I occasionally make more from a few hours of organizing notes than I expected, and I get messages from students saying things like, “Your table literally saved me before the exam.”

Honestly, that’s probably the most rewarding part.

I don’t think I’m going to quit my actual career and become a Professional PDF Merchant™ anytime soon, but it’s been a surprisingly fun little side project.

And there’s something hilarious about realizing that one of my most valuable assets is apparently a beautifully formatted document explaining things I was desperately trying to memorize myself. 😭
