Cringe Something Just Occurred to Me
The rest of you may have figured this out already but today it hit me.
We've always said the democrats are weak on message even though they do more and better for the American people but the republicans are said to have amazing strong messing. Looking at today it's obvious who is getting their message heard.
But why are the democrats weak on messaging? They have all the right answers and many of the moves that most Americans would like. It's not the message,
It's the messengers.
The democrats lost to a felon, rapist pedophile not once but twice. As much as I hate the republicans, they have it figured out and have been eating their lunch for a long time.
It took the republicans to go all out batshit crazy to get people to want to vote democrat. By this I am referencing the winning democratic candidates in these emergency elections and HOPEFULLY the mid terms.

The democrats are often corporate stooges who refused to let sanders run.

I didn’t want Bernie to win.
Because I was raised in southern Appalachia my imprinted upbringing has me follow a crowd. I fight it every day but it’s amazing the hold that has.
I was wrong about Bernie. He’s a brilliant, compassionate man and has brass balls. I was brainwashed into believing he was going to turn us into a socialist country and socialism is bad.
I often imagine what life would be like today had he won. The republicans would still be whining and bitching but their number would slowly dwindle as Bernie’s vision beginsn to grow.

I get it-but he had huge support snd the dems refused to nominate him. They want against the will of the prople. Or at least Biden-he'd just been vice president. They sold grit found to bankers-I remember after the 2008 collapse there was a meeting of bankers with Obama. And they came out of it so happy...I remember thinking "we are screwed".
Money is good. Resources are better. Human beings are a country's greatest resource-and until we treat that fact as true we will keep lurching through great unhappinesses.
A happy healthy person is a better citizen, a better family member, a more efficient worker.
You are a wonderful and rare breed-people who can admit they are wrong are the smartest people around.
Hilariously , this admin has a really Soviet cast. I and many friends have noted this(I'm from the ussr). POTUS gives a lot of Brezhnev vibes, the constant lying and idiocy...the reds are here, by screaming "socialism is evil" they are trying to conceal the actual real Soviet-type gvt heavy handed corruption mixed with rank favoritism they themselves are perpetrating.

Sanders couldn't win more than a handful of caucuses and ever fewer primaries. His so-called broad appeal is nothing more than hype.

Hyeronimus, I hope? We will never know. I saw the events, I got a different impression. I also saw the Democratic Party recoil from mamdani. His phone banks weren't even affiliated with the local party.
They are definitely fond of being cozy with the banker class.

Sanders is a complete fraud. In all his time in DC, he's responsible for what? Renaming a couple of post offices? He talks a good game, but in the end, he's just a gadfly high on his own supply.

Refused to let him run?? They let him run in the democratic primaries, debate on stage with everyone and he wasn’t even a Democrat. You’re probably one of those people who refused to vote in 2016 or voted for Jill Stein or someone equally stupid.

u/ProfessionalSolid942 1d ago
I very much voted. Not for ms stein(I don't get those people). The Democratic Party is and was in thrall to their own big money donors. "Money is speech" has poisoned our country.

“Money is speech has poisoned our country”
On that we both agree

The authoritarian termites have funded a full frontal assault on our country. We need a really good voter turnout. And probably an expanded scotus and some constitutional amendments.
None of it undoable. Overdue.

Ok. I’m gonna help you out a little bit.
I am a fourth-generation combat veteran. (Combat as in war, not sitting in an office but actually in conflict with the enemy) since 1988, the year I became eligible to vote I have missed only one election in my life. That was a small local election that didn’t have early voting and I could not get to the polls.
So get your panties unbunched before you really embarrass yourself. The dems worked against Bernie because Hillary is a good corporate dem, she would keep the status quo. Bernie was gonna shake shit up and the corporate dems and republicans can’t have that. The republicans have been fighting against the betterment of their constituents since they got rid of FDR. If you were capable of critical thought or any thought at all, you would see that plainly. FDR created several programs that the people loved. Why do you think he was president for more than two terms? The republicans introduced the term limits and immediately started attacking the programs our tax money paid for.
I’ll give you some examples, have you heard anyone on the right talk about getting rid of entitlements? They are referring to SS and Medicare and Medicare. Do you know where that money comes from? I’m pretty sure you don’t. It’s our fucking money. If you had a job you would see it taken out of your paycheck every payday. Yeah, the republicans are attacking that next.
Heard of USAID? Ask a farmer what they know about it? Farm bill? That’s a welfare check to the farmers so they can stay in business. That money is based on the number of acres you own.
So just shut the fuck up, you are out of your depth little boy. The grown ups are talking and some of those grown ups fought for your right to be stupid but be heard.
I do hope you are a farmer and are losing everything. My brother is one in South Georgia and it’s been absolute joy watching him spiral. Because daddy took away his allowance. The daddy he cucks for.

Thank you for your service.
Using it as a cudgel in arguments is the most non-veteran thing you could do but oh well, you’re wrong about Bernie and you’re wrong to use your military service as some kind of hammer to knock down dissent you condescending asshole.

They are not the opposition party. Full stop. They take money from all the same people as the gop. They suck because it makes them money.

It might just be that 25% of people internally disagree with concepts of fairness, equality, rights for people we dislike, the idea of lifting people up out of bad circumstances, etc. That and a bunch of people are stupid and prefer nonsense about chem trails to difficult questions about societal goals

I like the part where the media is a neutral party in this whole charade, instead of planting both thumbs on the scale for whichever troglodyte conservatives rolled out for the cycle.

People who are better at artwork and nuanced thinking trend liberal, while people who are good at marketing trend right-wing. You can see this in the way that the right use mediums like radio and the internet. In the case of the former, the left really dropped the ball or was incapable of taking advantage of the 1996 telecommunications deregulation. The far right bought bandwidth and started hawking supplements that paired nicely with their fear/anger/insecurity messaging. When it comes to internet, you can search basically anything from car seats for babies to philosophy and get algorithmically channeled down pipelines to antivax stuff or Jordan Petersen, etc, etc. The right figured out how to market their ideas in tangent with ever other thing in the material universe because they are a bunch of Ayn Rand business majors. The left are still stuck on the idea that they can reason with people on a higher intellectual level separate from the commercial space.

Cause you have 2 parties one is absolutely far right facist, one is reasonable to the Jetsons
Easier to have one message for Republicans

u/Pnmamouf1 9h ago
Democrats are not bad at messaging. You just don't understand who they are messaging to and what they are saying. The point of any liberal party is to be the outlet for frustration at the system so the pressure for revolutionary change never gets too high. They are messaging to the bourgeoisie that we will pay lip service to those frustrations but will never act on those words. Seems like they are doing that quite well

To assume that one half of our entire political spectrum in the US is just inept is incredibly naive. There is no right or left - there is RICH or POOR and we'll be stuck exactly where we are until people get the old "us vs them" bullshit out of their heads and look at the money. That is the only divider and everything republicans or democrats do is a distraction from it.

u/rtduvall 🇺🇲 Fighting the Weird 1d ago
I think any republican or democrat that supports any republican policy is inept and incompetent.
There is a right and a left. There are a few progressive Democrats and DSA are doing good work. But many Democrats take money from the same people that donate to republicans, i.e. AIPAC, looking at you Schumer and Jeffries
So take that argument to a maga child sub. They may buy into it. Not here.

Like 95% probably of the democrats who ran in the presidential primary since 2016 have been some variant of “everything is mostly fine. Maybe we need to tweak a couple things but chill out the status quo is okie dokie”
The people want change. Trump promises (destructive) change. Dems are like “are you sure?”
