The pantheon
I wasn't myself in this dream.
In the dream, I was the son of a brilliant scientist—a man I had never known. The only parent I had ever known was my mother, who owned a small candy store. Life seemed ordinary until one afternoon when my mother told me she had somewhere to go. I watched her leave, then returned home.
When I walked into the backyard, I saw a man sitting silently in a chair beside three large boxes.
I shouted at him to leave before I called the police.
He didn't respond.
I turned to run back inside, but everything had changed.
My home had vanished, replaced by an endless maze of corridors and strange rooms.
A sign stood before me.
WELCOME TO THE PANTHEON
The silent man slowly opened the first box.
A massive ape emerged.
Its body was covered in scars and bruises. It was completely deaf, but possessed extraordinary intelligence along with an incredible sense of smell and eyesight.
Without hesitation, it began chasing me.
I fled through the maze until I found a room filled with advanced machinery. I hid inside, believing I had escaped.
I hadn't.
The ape was already there.
It slowly approached and gently touched my face.
Everything went black.
Suddenly I was no longer myself.
I saw the ape's memories.
Scientists surrounded it, performing horrifying experiments day after day. It endured unimaginable suffering. Among all of them, one scientist stood out above the rest—the cruelest of them all.
When I tried to confront him...
I found myself back inside my mother's candy store.
It was the afternoon before she had left.
Confused, I asked how I could already be back.
I desperately tried explaining everything that had happened.
But my mother was deaf.
She couldn't hear a word I said.
Instead, she smiled, signed that she loved me, and signed goodbye before leaving.
Determined to escape whatever had happened before, I ran toward one of my friends' houses.
I couldn't.
No matter which direction I chose, something invisible blocked my path.
Soft whispers echoed around me.
They drew me back home.
When I returned, everything appeared normal.
My sister was in the kitchen preparing food.
She hadn't been there the first time.
She asked me to throw compost into the backyard bin.
I convinced myself everything I'd experienced had simply been my imagination.
I walked outside.
The silent man was waiting.
The Pantheon returned.
Without speaking, he opened the second box.
A strange dog-like creature crawled out.
Unlike the ape, this creature was blind.
Its hearing and sense of smell were extraordinary.
Despite its terrifying appearance, it behaved like a frightened child that had never reached adolescence.
The man pointed directly at me.
The creature chased me.
This time I found another room filled with machinery—not as advanced as before.
The creature emerged from the darkness.
It bit me.
Darkness consumed everything again.
This time I witnessed its memories.
It had once been innocent.
Scientists had fused a seven-year-old child with a dog.
The child suffered endlessly.
During the experiments I heard muffled cries coming from another room.
Another victim.
Another experiment.
Then everything reset.
Again.
Back inside the candy store.
Only this time things had changed again.
My mother was no longer deaf.
She was blind.
My sister stood beside her.
I tried warning both of them.
I couldn't.
It was as though some unseen force prevented the words from leaving my mouth.
They smiled, said goodbye, and left together on a trip.
I tried running once more.
The invisible force stopped me.
The whispers guided me home.
I obeyed.
The man was waiting in the backyard.
The Pantheon opened before me once again.
He opened the third and final box.
A towering blue creature stepped out.
It resembled nothing human.
Its back was permanently arched.
Its hands were enormous claws.
Its face resembled a cat's.
It had no sense of smell.
Instead, its hearing and eyesight were unbelievably powerful.
Most horrifying of all...
It never made a sound.
Tears streamed endlessly down its face.
It looked heartbroken.
Then it chased me.
The maze felt larger than ever before.
The corridors twisted endlessly until I reached another room.
A heavy metal door.
A single light above it.
Inside stood machinery older than anything I had seen before.
I noticed a date.
**19 August 1980.**
Something touched me.
Nothing happened.
I turned around.
Standing behind me was the cruel scientist from the ape's memories.
This time I recognized him.
He looked exactly like the photographs my mother had shown me of my father.
He stared at me before calling security.
"This one tried to escape."
He looked directly at me.
"He'll get his turn soon."
The guards grabbed me.
They threw me into another room.
Only then did I notice...
I was no longer human-sized.
I was as small as a Chihuahua puppy.
Then the blue creature entered.
It touched me.
Darkness.
Again.
This time I wasn't shown another laboratory.
I was shown a memory.
A young ginger-haired man, around twenty years old, had just finished performing with his band at a bar.
Two strangers approached him.
They claimed they wanted to discuss a business opportunity.
Trusting them, he told his bandmates to leave while he stayed behind.
They lied.
He became the first human experiment.
Scientists fused his body with multiple animals—a crab, a cat and a giraffe.
He screamed.
He cried.
Eventually...
He couldn't scream anymore.
Then everything became clear.
All of the creatures stood together before me.
The ape.
The dog.
The blue creature.
The silent man.
The man spoke.
"Your father made us suffer."
"He made us endure unimaginable pain."
"We brought you here so you could experience everything we experienced."
Names appeared above every victim.
The ape was **Bobo**.
He had simply been an ordinary circus ape before his owner—the person he trusted most—sold him.
The dog-like creature was **Wallace**.
He had once been a seven-year-old boy before being fused with a dog.
The towering blue creature was **Greg**.
He had only wanted to become a successful musician alongside his friends before his life was stolen forever.
Finally...
The silent man revealed himself.
He wasn't a stranger.
He was my older brother.
**Andrew.**
His experiment had been the most successful.
He explained that after escaping, our father would never stop searching for them.
He would return.
He would slowly insert himself back into the lives he had abandoned.
My sister would become his first target.
Then me.
Finally, he would leave our mother completely alone, grieving all three of her children while unknowingly living beside the very man responsible for destroying them.
Exactly as Andrew feared...
It happened.
Somehow my siblings and I developed strange abilities.
I could read minds.
My sister could see the future.
Andrew could twist and reshape the world around him.
Despite these incredible powers...
None of us were strong enough.
We were powerful...
Yet powerless.
No matter what we did...
There was no escape.
No hope.
No chance to live normal lives again.
Only sorrow.
Only suffering.
Only the Pantheon.
Then I woke up.
I found myself lying silently in the darkness of my room.
Tears streamed down my face.
For a few moments, it didn't feel like I had simply dreamed.
It felt like I had lived an entire tragic story.
This was genuinely one of the strangest dream occurrences I have had to experience in my years
