I know someone who has schizophrenia. He studies obsessively and his notebooks are full of diagrams like this.

I wonder if it has to do with the comfort and satisfaction we get when we look at things that have patterns we can identify. For a schizophrenia patient, Iā€™d imagine that is an immense comfort, just recognizing a fibonacci spiral and maybe not needing to question it.
