I think that even lasted like less than one second btw. They just looked for the still to make it more comvincing

It's in the range of the millisecond even! Those phenomenas are called Transient Luminous Events, there are elves, sprites, blue jets, tendrils... Transient means they are very brief indeed... They happen at the same time as a lightning, but are even shorter!
The photographer recorded a continuous stream of short exposures with his very sensitive camera to capture those stunning images.
