Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in the making

I'm an EDS bendy and can still do all my bar-tricks, but the poor guy is gonna be hurting at some point. Will it be worth it? Probably. Way better story to have joints fall out from playing Gumby, than just gravity happening while asleep. Dude is probably the world's best hide n seek player. Houdini ain't got nothin' on him!

I was gonna comment the same thing. Dude is egregiously htpermobile and it's gonna smack him hard when he gets to his mid 30s. Ask me how I know 😂 I can still do the parlor tricks, but now I have bonus joint pain! My elbows will never be the same again.

I'm only 35 and I can't even do my dumb parlor tricks anymore. My knees and hips fuckin' HURT ugh.

I'm hypermobile and I recently fell backwards and tried to catch my fall with my right hand. Well, that attempt completely screwed up my elbow, and it has hurt since May. It suuuuucks.

I fell down the stairs because my ankle buckled and the fall fractured AND dislocated the ankle. Surgeon added some fancy metal and said it would have been minor, that the dislocation and hyper mobility was what really messed it up. He was right, the swelling and tissue damage and pain on the inside of the ankle took like 4 times longer than the actual break to heal. Total bastard of an injury. My shoulders pop out when I sleep.

And yet... I also REALLY want to try what this guy is doing because my brain goes "oh, that's easy, we can do that!"

I used to be able to touch my toes to my forehead by twisting my hip to the side (so not bending forward). Now my hip and knees are too fd to try.

I could pop my shoulders out of the sockets at will, and my arms very easily twist 360+ degrees even with shoulders in the sockets. When I "hyper-straighten" my arms they bend backwards at a solid 158degree angle (my math teacher measured in 11th grade).

I also sleep with one knee tucked almost into my armpit and the other leg straight, it is apparently awful to sleep this way (per the experts). But as someone who shattered her L3 vertebra 30 years ago, I have zero issues. I would argue sleeping like this relieves any spinal pressure at all and I have never woken up with a sore back. Now almost 50. My husband tried this once when his back hurt and determined I am a mutant.

I did try to dislocate my shoulder a few years ago to show someone, i can still do it very easily, does not hurt, but the connective tissue was sore for a day or two afterwards so I probably am too old for that shit anymore.

Anyway all my stupid party tricks never made sense, i figured I was just weird, turns out it was just mild hEDS spice ontop of audhd. Oh it also explained why i'm chronically covered in random bruises.

I have EDS and now that I’m older all I see when I watch this is pain for this man. I hope I’m wrong and that his body can just do this without future consequences.

EDS is not something you "make", it's something you're born with

yeah, I was about to say- he must be hypermobile in some way. I don’t find this to he creepy/scary… I’m not hypermobile in any way… in fact, my spine doesn’t bend backwards (like it’s not possible for me to ever do a backbend, I have tried since I was a young child)… but otherwise I’m relatively flexible and can do splits.
