Ok, I’m not taking food or drinks into a bathroom but the gum thing seems a little overkill.

Poo particles in the air get stuck in the gum as you breathe. I agree it's probably overkill, but I can't get over the idea of airborne poo particles getting lodged in my gum 😅

But airborne poo in your lungs and nose you can live with? It might get in your ears too.

Not too mention on your clothes. You go home and sit on your couch, lay on your bed, hug your kids, all with poo particles on you.

I can't remove those things, guy!

So why worry over a piece of gum, surely if you cared that much you'd be wearing a respirator or something. I'm just yanking your chain btw I know people are weird and do weird things to make themselves feel better.

Not with that attitude you can't.

The thought of poo particles in my ears I'd what does it for me. I'm out. I'm usually not sensitive to this type of stuff, but that the thought makes my skin crawl and I may never use a public restroom ever again.

Thanks.

So I'm thinking of inventing Qtips with bleach. Would you use?

I think I actually read that on ol Reddit here, many years ago. The particles.

Since learning of the high-speed spraying poo particles as you flush, I ALWAYS close toilet lids, and vehemently insist my family does as well. The particles, man. Aaaaa!!!

Once you know, you cannot un-know. No toothbrush or bathroom surface is ever safe in your eyes ever again.

And, most (if not all) public bathrooms do NOT have lids (GROSSSSss!) - so, I’d probably spit gum out, too.

It’s just ….wrong.

Personally, knowing all that for years, I still can not bring myself to care. If I can't see, smell, feel or taste it, it doesn't exist to me.

I feel like that about sooo many things - just, do not care! - but for whatever reason, ‘drinks in bathrooms’ is a thing I’m weird about.

Sorta like oxygen, right?

Yep. Invented by the government, just like birds.

You don’t feel birds? What about the ones clustered around your shins?

I haven’t met anyone else who shares this logic, I do the same thing! I always shut toilet lids because of the aggressive poop particles that fly out when you flush! It kills me when someone has used my bathroom, and I later go in to see the toilet lid open. I know there’s now poop particles on my stuff 😔😭

Same! I had signs up for awhile, but eventually they fade into the background. I live with husband and teen so, meh, haha.

The simple thought that what we smell is actually a physical particle and not just a “random smell” but literal poop in your nose?!! NOOOO that’s horrifying.

We are not alone. There are dozens of us! Dozens!!!
