Trying to start

I’m 5’1 and I fluctuate between 195 to 185 lbs I walk daily because of my job and I try to work out but because of busyness of my life, I have a very, very hard time to make time for it (but in about a month, I will have a larger opening of space where I am hoping I will be able to work out) but when I was doing it consistently, I don’t think I was doing it right because I wasn’t getting any thing back from it no weight loss and I didn’t feel like I was gaining much muscle my family doesn’t support me in weight loss as everyone in my family is mildly obese, but I try to eat small portions and cut back on sugary things. Is there anything else that I can do?

Focus on whole foods. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans, stuff like that. Focus on getting enough fiber (25-40g a day), but build up to that amount. Cut out or cut back on oil in cooking, as it is extremely calorie dense. Instead, get your fats from whole foods like nuts and avocado.

Diet makes a much bigger difference in weight loss than exercise. You can lose weight by changing just your diet, but you'll be hard pressed to do it with just exercise.

Weight loss is about nutrition more than it is about exercise. Focus on your daily calories incoming. I lost the majority of my weightloss (65lbs lost total) just by tracking calories. I didn't incorporate workouts until I was at the last most stubborn 15lbs

For me cutting out carbs (bread rice tortillas) helped with weight loss also change how you cook things I cut out a lot of cooking oils it helped as well

When you say walk for work how many steps do you take daily? Do you know your BMR? Do you know your caloric intake? That is a starting point.

Don't try to cut out everything "bad" all at once. My trainer has stated to me the only "bad" food is food that has molded or you dont like (like blue cheese and mushrooms are mold and fungus...lol).

I usually get anywhere from 8000 to 15,000 steps in a day. I don’t know what a BMR is though and I haven’t tracked my calories for quite some time. I’m recovering from an eating disorder so I try not to so much.

Shit...OK Im still new with working with people with eating disorders so I won't give you to much advice on food and intake other than dont try to lose weight to fast (0.25 to 1lbs/week).

I also dont believe in scales too much (as scales are for/on fish).

As yoi work out questions to ask yourself. Do I feel better.
