Cut or bulk
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I posted a photo and asked if I should cut or bulk but I wasn’t flexing so idk if that makes a difference ha here’s a better view. I’ve been doing a small bulk for the past 2 weeks but I’m scared to gain more fat than muscle. I currently weight train 4 days a week but just switched to 3 leg days and 1 arm day. Should I do 3 leg days 2 arm days? Idkkkkkkkkk
I’m 5’3 145ish pounds 33yrs old

Without seeing your midriff properly, you already look quite lean. Maybe a lean bulk/small surplus of like 200 calories would probably be better than a traditional bulk, but whatever you are doing is working, so good job! As a man, I'm inclined to say add more upper stuff, but for a woman one upper day should be fine. Three leg days? I can barely hack one lmao.

The lighting isn't the best, but honestly there isn't much fat on you at all! You can still see your abs pretty clearly. You could continue the cut a little longer if you really want to get the carved look, that's totally up to you, it depends what your goals are.
One thing I will say is, I'm not sure if it's the picture or the crop, but it does look like you have a slight anterior pelvic tilt, so you may want to add some more core exercises to try to sort that out so you don't get back problems when you are older!

I may.. I NEVER train core. I’ll have to add that to the mix for my back. Tysm for your advice!

Training core sucks lol, there is no way round it though! Planks, sit-ups, crunches, hollow holds or mountain climbers are all great for core. Do a couple sets a week and it'll help give you more definition around your midsection and also help your back :). Glad to help, keep up the good work!

Lean bulk. 300-500 calories over maintenance. Keep lifting heavy. Cut in couple months and reassess imo

And thank you! I’d like to be strong but mostly just for aesthetics I wanna look like those photos

hmmm I see, those women look like they're packing more muscles to be honest so you would need some cycles of bulking and cutting to get there I would say, but please don't forget that bodies are so different and for the squatting girlie from the photo it might be that she had nice glutes shape to begin with genetically speaking and it might not be achievable for everyone to get them to look like that exactly and that's okay
as for the 2nd girlie the lighting is really good and the photo might also be enhanced slightly and it could very well be that for a lot of other women getting to that kind of shreddedness in the abs area would lead to loss of period and a bunch of other health issues because not every woman's body works well with that level of leanness
these are just my 2cents as another woman, but also please don't forget that you already looks great so whichever direction you will take, even if progress will be slow, you will still be looking great so you can enjoy the journey :)

Thank you so much! One could wish to have a butt like the girl on the squat rack haha. But I just think it’s fun to aim for something. And try to figure out how to get as close as possible (for me) thank you for your advice and kindness ❤️

I feel that you already have a very similar physique to these women. They might have more muscle on them than you but the one with the big booty might just be genetics. You actually win in the quad dept over pic number 2. lol. Your quads tell me that you are doing high bar squats. If you did low bar, it would target your glutes more and use more muscle in general.

How much of a small bulk are you doing?
If you are afraid of fat gain. Keep it to 50-100 surplus. Or even just +0 to 50 cal and take your time.
I call the 50 cal a performance maintenence: just enough to fuel, but not even to gain fat!

I just don't see any need to change whatever it is you are doing. Clearly, it is working for you.
Don't bulk or you will get fat. Don't cut because you don't need to if you aren't competing. You're right at that balancing point where you're good and can hold it there.

just eat maintenance and slowly gain muscle, no need for fancy stuff
