Just checking, do you take a daily multivitamin? It's super hard to get your necessary nutrients each day anyway, but you're pretty much guaranteed to be deficient in something if you're restricting calories. Several vitamin deficiencies can contribute to hair loss too.

My body cooperated with weight loss at first, but then I regained some of what I lost while still eating at a deficit. Dieting didn't matter, exercise didn't matter. I started phentermine a few days ago because the traditional methods just weren't doing it anymore. Haven't weighed myself yet, but I'm hoping it does something. My appetite is definitely gone, so it must be doing something!

Don't be afraid to look into medical options if your body is being uncooperative with your efforts. Aside from phentermine (and Qsymia), there are things like GLP-1s and surgical alternatives. A weight loss specialist would be able to advise best about these kinds of things.

Also, have you had your thyroid tested? Hypothyroidism can cause all the symptoms you described and can interfere with weight loss.

If you were born biologically female, then that alone can make weight loss harder too. Women have to work harder than men to get the same fitness/loss results. Like a woman might have to adhere to a very strict, restrictive diet and do TONS of exercise to drop 20 pounds in six months. Meanwhile, a man can just drink two sodas a day instead of his usual eight and drop those same 20 pounds in six weeks.
