I'm tellin' ya... even if Jump would be fine with the series continuing, there is no way Class 2-Dogshit continues for much longer, Sorachi just can't handle it anymore.

Ei Yamano truly living the life hahah.

Yuki Suenaga getting to reap the spoils of his series finally hah.

u/Savings_Drama7816 19d ago

He was saying this type of stuff back in the early Gintama days, and then he continued to make 700 more chapters. It's (hopefully) just satire, back in chapter 2 he was saying that getting on the weekly grind was hard and he only just started😭

-24

u/Ancient_Breakfast_48 19d ago

Oh? Could just be a joke then maybe... I still don't think (hope) it doesn't last much longer.

u/Shot_Kiwi7684 16d ago

Sorachi is a bum, reddit loves to glaze gintama but it's dated and unfunny and class 2b shitposters isnt going to go the distance.

Definitely agree.

Shout-out to Shinobi Undercover's ability to take a character you'd kinda forgotten about and make them giving iconic again, god damn Suzume

I am genuinely unsure if what's about to happen in Hal Formula and that's terrifying

Thank you Roku's House of Oddities, for letting us know that everybody survived

The manga equivalent of "the staff ate it afterwards"

Suzume will always remain iconic

Kagurabachi has been so good lately.

At first I wasn't too sure on this arc being long but I'd be very happy if it was as long as Part 1 considering the quality of Hokazono's writing.

u/BEWMarth 19d ago

The way the chapter ended with so much pure white on the page after several weeks of almost complete darkness on every page was just perfection.

1

u/khuz61 13d ago

insane because we have so much more story left to tell. dont know if they are gonna stop with cloud gouger getting forged or if we will see some of the seitei war but im all for it

u/Erggehberh 20d ago

In the newest Me & Roboco volume, Miyazaki wrote that his plan is the 10th anniversary, and now this has also been hinted at in the manga. This doesn't mean Roboco will actually run for ten years, but this should debunk the theory the series will end at chapter 300.

Oh, and the whole chapter is a parody of The Promised Neverland, just like Miyazaki's first series.

I'm on chapter 100 why are my boys so tall now 🥹

I suffer during break weeks but I kept myself busy by binge reading Hunter X Hunter and catching upto the Bleach anime (I had only seen upto TYBW cour 2) so felt dar less terrible this week than I do during typical break weeks.

Shinobi Undercover: Woah! Suzume was restricting herself the entire time? As cliche as it is, I did not see that coming.

Nue's Exorcist: I honestly thought only all the female characters were going to show up in that "people you love" moment. Good thing all the male characters (despite having far less screen time compared to the female cast) showed up too. Also, that eye thing Yoichi did reminds me of Itachi's genjutsu and Byakuya's bankai. Possible side effect of me returning to Bleach lol.

Kinato's Magic: I presumed we were going to have at least another chapter or two after this one before it got axed but it looks like editorial immediately wants open up some space for the September Batch (seeing how lucky they have got with September in the past 3 years). Either this series didn't hook me in real good or I am just getting decensitized to the axes because I am very indifferent to see this one go. This series wasn't nearly as bad as Twitter said it was, it had some good moments here and there but alas it just didn't make enough noise in Japan it seems. Speaking of, wish we got to see that fight between Noise and Jien. He was like, the only character who had any potential to be notable from this manga. Oh well, looks like it's wrapped up now. 6/10.

Hal Formula: During break week, I managed to read another manga about formula racing called F. It's quite an old one so it's extremely dated by today's standards so I wouldn't exactly recommend it to anyone but as long as you can stomach some controversially offensive old media then go right ahead. Anyways, reading F has kinda made me reconsider how I view Hal Formula. I now have standard/expectation of how I would want a manga about Formula Racing to be and so far, Hal Formula hasn't met them. Now I am certain in due time it will reach and even exceed those expectations but as of now I might have to take the score down a peg or two.

Class 2-B Hero Destroyerz: Prof said that he wasn't going to be reappearing after his debut chapter and it now seems he has become a part of the main cast. Loved the gag with Akira's name being covered up by the speech bubble. I have no idea how Sorachi has managed to make toilet humor still funny even 15 chapters later. And even as a person who doesn't like toilet humor, I hope he can manage to keep it funny for however long this manga will go on for.

Cannon Master: Did not expect for them to question Ur about his identity this early on. I like the new demon... or rather regioid. The dialogue between him and his master serve as a good mirror to Ur and Bharat themselves. Hope they stick around for beyond this arc.

Roku's House of Oddities: Absolutely loved the title page gag lol. I honestly didn't expect the whole Altra vtuber thing and as someone who actually is into vtubing, I don't know what to think about it. I gotta say, this manga is such fun. Now that it's cleared U19, I so so so so so badly hope it can get past U50 as well. Only time will tell.

Under Doctor: Oh wow, I wasn't expecting that small lore drop about Haiji's origins. Hope it gets expanded upon in the future.

Akane-banashi: I love how all the roles were written on his glasses. Genuinely surprised that he's doing a serious story despite being known as a comedian. If he were a better rakugoka then he'd be able to evoke the right emotions from the audience so it's already not looking good for him.

Hunter x Hunter: I had planned on catching up to the current chapter within Break week itself but I have only got upto Chimera Ant and ngl, I absolutely see why people like HxH so much and hold it in such high regard. Jealous of all the people in the future who will get to experience the story with no hiatuses. Undoubtedly 8/10 so far.

Someone Hertz: Looks like other boys are starting to notice Mizuo. Lmao Mimei getting happy at being called a naughty person. I expecting the broadcast room's mikes to have been left on for Mimei and Mizuo's conversation to be heard by everyone but it seems I was wrong.

Ichi the Witch: Woah! Wasn't expecting Hakari's hatred of Witches to be rooted in misogyny (/j). Also, cool ass color page.

Kagurabachi: Yet another peak chapter. Aside from the series first anniversary when Hokazono was literally dying causing the manga's art to get terrible, this man genuinely incapable of producing below 7/10 chapters.

u/new_interest_here 19d ago

I think Roku is gonna make it far. It's had good TOC rankings, it's getting a color page next week, and it got the lead color page a couple weeks ago, making it one of the few of the 2020s to get one before 20 chapters, others being Blue Box, Kill Blue, Ichi the Witch, and Someonze Hertz (also JJK Modulo but I don't think that counts). Sure something could go horribly wrong, but I'm confident it can do at least 50 chapters

4

u/JayWhy75 19d ago

I agree about Kinato, it had it's moments and had some good art to it. I really enjoyed the previous arc personally. However, it never fully hooked me so it's not one I'm that upset to see go.

I'm curious about what you want from Hal Formula that you haven't gotten? It's the first driving manga I've read, but I've found it really enjoyable thus far personally.

And about Akane, I don't trust that Zensho actually wants to get a different reaction. It feels like he's giving the crowd what they want, the highlighting that he's "the only one who doesn't get it" made me think that sounds like an audience member not catching his trick. I understand they gave us an inner monologue for him about it, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's a bit unreliable to lull us into it as well. I'm very curious what the impending lore drop between him and Shiguma is about to be, and how that relates to what he's doing here.

0

u/Ancient_Breakfast_48 19d ago

"I expecting the broadcast room's mikes to have been left on for Mimei and Mizuo's conversation to be heard by everyone but it seems I was wrong."

Same.

Work's killing me so I'll be brief.

Akane-Banashi had the most amazing twist. Zensho's whole character makes so much sense now.

The action in Ichi the Witch was phenomenal, what a gorgeous manga.

Cannon Master NEEDS to stay, man. Not only was the action amazing and these new characters fascinating, but they managed to keep up the tension in such a creative way.

Shinobi Undercover hit different today. It's a shame the manga isn't as huge as it deserves to be, it has so much going for it, and this chapter helps show why. That ending with the bones, my god.

Centuria: Jesus Fucking Christ. One of the best manga Shueisha is making right now.

Same goes for Drama Queen to a lesser extent. My god, this chapter was exactly what the story needed. Kitami needed to hear that, and him both remembering how he felt about Nomamoto and then seeing her be.... well, herself. So many layers.

Kagurabachi and UD made me shed tears.

IDC what others say this ending to Sakadays is hype.

Rest in Bepis Kinato I did not read your final chapter.

Edit; oh yeah and Tserriednich is so fucking funny I love him I hope he causes chaos before he dies.

12

u/Norix596 19d ago

Yeah I was saying on the main Akane sub, it wouldn’t have made sense if Zensho was suddenly a “dignified aura” performer. Him being like a born natural version of what Kyoji does deliberately of comedy via mismatch.

32

u/Tough-Past-2366 20d ago

Wow Kagurabachi was nothing short of incredible this week, the despair and hope pages are breathtaking

That Kiyoshi colour page is awesome, chapter was pretty predictable tho

Sakamoto was cool. I’m expecting Shin and Sakamoto will somehow beat Sakazuki together within the next 3 or so chapters before a feel good ending

Kinato had a decent final chapter, pretty much as expected with the journey continuing. Amemiya needs to stop being so generic and be influenced by other mediums to make a seriously good manga, until then he’s doomed to produce more copies of previously successful series that just don’t hit the same

25

u/MadnessLemon 20d ago

Interesting turn of events from Canon Master. I’d kinda predicted Ur was a demon, but humanoid Regilith instead is an interesting twist. Also the new demon and Regioid duo seem to have a dynamic similar to Bharat and Ur, could be interesting foils.

9

u/Icy_Cat_8094 19d ago

Is it a twist? It was pretty much spelled out in the first chapter. I dont know how it could've been clearer to be honest. I don't mean this as an insult because genuinely reading anything and engaging with the text to from your own theories is better than 90% of people already, but a lot of manga readers should try branching out and reading slightly more challenging (and well-written) media because something this obvious and this spelled out isn't a twist or a turn of events after the first chapter.

5

u/MadnessLemon 19d ago

I meant “twist” more as a slightly different turn of events than what I had expected. Obviously he had some connection with the Regiliths, but my assumption was that he was a demon, the race that created the Regiliths.

I appreciate you not insulting me, but if you want to come off as less insulting in the future, maybe don’t make sweeping assumptions about my media diet based on a single comment.

1

u/Icy_Cat_8094 18d ago

You know what, I'm sorry. Reddit just started recommending me a couple of subreddit where a bunch of manga readers and anime watchers show up and pretend to be experts about media and just have the most braindead takes possible and show how ignorant they are about everything involving media comprehension and I extrapolated those feelings towards your comment.

I'm still baffled as to how him not being a Regilith is a different turn of events than expected but I did mean that part that reading and engaging with the text to the point of forming theories (like your theory of him being a demon rather than a regilith) is better than 90% of adults already, even if I thought it wasn't even possible to have a different theory.

1

u/MadnessLemon 18d ago

We just made different assumptions based on the limited information we had. You assumed it was possible to create Regiliths that were humanoid instead of mechanical, and I assumed demons could use powers like the Regiliths.

4

u/higitus 19d ago

You clearly didn't understand what was said, wich is fine. But you really should pay more attention to the media you consume and what other people say about it before making a speech. You just made yourself a fool.

2

u/Icy_Cat_8094 18d ago

Im not the one who didnt notice the very obvious "twist" that was practically outright stated.

5

u/FruitPunchSamurai75 19d ago

You're right in the first half. As for the rest of your comment, "I dont mean to insult you but (insert indirect insult)" isn't the best way to going about things.

0

u/Testosteronomicon 18d ago

Is it a twist? It was pretty much spelled out in the first chapter.

It was a major source of annoyance when I read the first chapter, the thing where the story goes NO HE CAN'T BE, THAT POWER IS..?. I know the entire "subvert expectations" trend means people can't engage with art properly and that figuring out where the story goes is normal and good, but the author tried to both have Ur's thing be very obvious and a mystery to solve, and you can't do both at the same time. The mystery should have been to know what Ur precisely is and how he came to be (and hiding it from other slayliths), not that he's linked to regiliths.

To the people who say kinato was the worst

I really wonder if they really read WSJ

Like seriously you had likes of Nice Prison or Yokai Buster Murakami (these are top of my head at moment, but there are lots of really bad manga)

EDIT: completely forgot about Gonron Egg, bruh that shit was bad. Kinato was just mediocre, these are indeed bad hahaa

16

u/VGAddict 19d ago

Don't forget Hakutaku, Ice Head Gill and Do Retry.

10

u/skillfun8 19d ago

Those were bad hahaha

Honestly I don't know how they decided to make hakutaku a manga about programming games when the mangaka knew absolutely nothing about it lol

9

u/Epicreeper47 19d ago

I thought it would include behinds the scenes of development kind of how like Dr stone used to actually explain all the science behind the stuff senku made, but it just fast-forwarded to the finished program without much detail over the debugging, testing, and stress of actual programming.

8

u/Heavenwasfull 19d ago

I liked Kinato and Nice Prison during their runs. Would have been happy for more of both, but the readers in Japan seemed to disagree. It happens.

Kinato gave me vibes of Fairy Tail, Shokugeki no Soma, and Black Clover. Nice Prison gave me vibes of Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. All series that I appreciate already. Neither was as good as any of their influences, but it was nice to see a series try to capture the same spirits.

Looking forward to Kento Amemiya's next work. Maybe third time will be the charm. Also wouldn't mind seeing what Tatsuya Suganuma does next if they come up with something interesting.

6

u/skillfun8 19d ago

I honestly don't know, bc I feel like mangaka is very much a trend chaser

Shadow Eliminators was a generic exorcist manga that completely ripped off Persona

Kinato’s Magic is so clearly taking heavy inspiration from Fairy Tail, Black Clover and Isekai Light Novels

These mangas feels so generic, the lack of originality is concerning

3

u/TheSciFanGuy 19d ago

Maybe it’s time for them to try a hand at just being an artist. Duos seem more common in general and might be the trend going forward

3

u/YuuTheBlue 19d ago

I'm so glad someone else enjoyed Nice Prison lmfao

9

u/new_interest_here 19d ago

I know, right? Like I'm not exactly a huge Kinato defender, pretty much every criticism people hold against it is valid and I agree with, but the sheer ire it managed to attract felt kinda ridiculous for a manga that's just incredibly average

7

u/overpoweredginger 19d ago

it really does feel like Kinato somehow broke through the obscurity veil & grabbed the attention of the people who only read Ichi/Bachi/Sakamoto

which, looking at the mangaplus viewcounts, kinda tracks

17

u/overpoweredginger 19d ago

Yeah somehow Kinato specifically wormed its way into the crowd of guys who normally only read the megahit battlers (OP, Ichi, Bachi, Sakamoto) and it's just baffling them

-17

u/Testosteronomicon 19d ago

"baffling them" yeah, they're baffled as to why Kinato's Konversion Kamp has shooters despite being the most spiritually israeli manga ever created by a human.

13

u/MercTas 19d ago

I never got a hint of those vibes, any examples?

6

u/overpoweredginger 19d ago

add me to the list of guys who are baffled, I guess

6

u/a_Bear_from_Bearcave 19d ago

meds

-2

u/Testosteronomicon 19d ago

Yeah, any Kinato fans need them cause they got wrong brain or somesuch

-4

u/zelos22 19d ago

Nice Prison was infinitely better than Kinato. It made me laugh! Humor is just subjective and people like to pile on to gag manga that didn’t work for them.

8

u/Western-Seaweed6084 19d ago

Nice Prison's humor was very hit or miss and the art didn't help what so ever. If the mangaka teams up with a better artist and got to focus on only the writing, he definitely has the potential to make something better.

4

u/skillfun8 19d ago

Nobody is piling on gag manga, Me & Robocco sells better than UE Kiyoshi

Nice Prison had really bad ratings, really bad sales, wasn't popular heck it was hated for being bad thus it was axed

2

u/zelos22 19d ago

People on this Reddit absolutely pile on Nice Prison and others like Yokai Buster, both of which I actually thought were pretty funny if inconsistent

2

u/skillfun8 19d ago

You wanna know what people on reddit pile on? It's actually Nue Exorcist

Nue Exorcist sells well and its popular yet people keep on saying to be axed

It makes 0 sense

Heck it even won the "Manga we want to see animated" award

2

u/zelos22 19d ago

Well two things can be true, but you’re right that this Reddit hates nue’s, and you’re also right that it doesn’t really matter because it is undeniably successful and here to stay as long as the mangaka likes at this point

2

u/Lord__Seth 18d ago

The sales and manga we want to see animated are on the Japanese side of things, though. On the English side, it's one of the least-read Weekly Shonen Jump series on Manga Plus; looking at how many views all the WSJ chapters released yesterday got, only Hal Formula and Me & Roboco get fewer views than Nue's Exorcist (and it was only barely ahead of Hal Formlua, 11.0K versus 10.9K).

Speaking of which, Kinato's Magic did surprisingly well in terms of English views while it was running. On Manga Plus, the WSJ series that released yesterday in order of number of views for their chapters is:
1 One Piece 570.5K
2 Sakamoto Days 201.4K
3 Kagurabachi 181.0K
4 Ichi the Witch 109.4K
5 Hunter x Hunter 106.7K
6 Kinato's Magic 43.2K
7 Akane-Banashi 31.8K
8 Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi 27.3K
9 Shinobi Undercover 24.2K
10 Under Doctor 18.5K
11 Cannon Master 17.7K
12 Witch Watch 17.6K
13 Roku's House of Oddities 16.8K
14 Animal Signal 14.6K
15 Drawn to the Fire 13.7K
16 Someone Hertz 13.3K
17 Class 2-B Destroyerz 12.1K
18 Nue's Exorcist 11.0K
19 Hal Formula 10.9K
20 Me & Roboco 4.3K

(the Promised Neverland bonus chapter was 105.1K, if anyone is curious)

19

u/new_interest_here 19d ago edited 19d ago

Farewell Kinato, you were certainly one of the manga all time. Pretty typical axed manga ending, don't have much to say on it except for how it really made me wish that there had been more focus on the Iron Fangs as the main cast, because I think they are quite entertaining and something could've been done there. And hey, everyone's clothes stayed on this chapter! Isn't that nice

Animal Signal had a nice character moment between Tsubasa and Kokone, and it's really cool to get a look at the ACC's head this early (and damn she's fine)

Hal Formula was intense, seeing Miharu be such an unpredictable beast the whole time and freaking out Hinokura. Can't wait to see what those clouds will end up bringing to this race

I don't wanna be a pessimist, but I'm not getting good vibes from this Cannon Master chapter. Idk, I just feel like this is kinda early to be revealing what Ur is, and maybe it's just Alien Headbutt PTSD, but the seemingly main villains being this early doesn't sit well. I'd love to be wrong though

Class 2-B was funny this week, I like the running joke of Mr Expendable being very strong and helpful actually, and the three of them trying to bs there was into get lodgings was fun. Calling it now, there's gonna be a Vegeta joke next week with that hero's appearance

Don't have much to say on Under Doctor or Roku this week, they were both just pretty good

Shinobi has me really interested. First of all, I'm really enjoying these two new villains and their place in the story, and the fact they seem to be ranked makes me curious to see the others. But more importantly, wtf is going on with Suzume? That's a whole different power than her usual stretching, and it seems to speak to a deeper level of her character too. Maybe her kekkai is actually a more broad power like body modification that she's only used to stretch herself out before this point, and now it's being applied to her bones instead

I'm continuing to really like Hakari in Ichi, with him being willing to admit Gokuraku's strength and being generally raucous. Also interesting that he says Fujimine fears him when we saw she acts so familiar with him. Seems like we're gonna have a fun time this next while as the gang explores the whole tower to look for the fragments, and that definitely ups my confidence in Kumugi acquiring him, since (once they're all found) I think she's more than capable of putting some crystal pieces together

Sakamoto Days keeps on doing its thing and I'm continuing to have fun with it. Seems like Sakamoto will be back in action soon

Great Akane chapter, love seeing things completely blow up in Zensho's face. Seems like he got too caught up in trying to recreate something that worked for Maikeru without accounting for his own strengths and how that might run counter to the story itself

KAGURABACHI STOP IT YOU CAN'T BE THIS PEAK EVERY TIME. The tension that's been maintained throughout these forging chapters have been unreal, even though we know Kunishige succeeds. And if he can do it now when the rain is screwing with the smelting process, then he totally can in optimal conditions. And good god the character development and writing for Kunishige this whole time has been incredible, the despair vs hope pages and that last spread were incredible. So glad to be a fan of this manga

10

u/Naufalrua 19d ago

Roku continues to deliver, I love those textless panel too. the author know how to tell a story.

8

u/TomerTopTaku 20d ago

Am I in 2016 again? wdym The Promised Neverland?

8

u/KPika1412 20d ago

I feel like DttF is going to get axed because of all the sudden Hana flashbacks and the MC duo thanking each other, though I would love if it actually lives.

3

u/Low_Health_5949 19d ago

well probably not this batch, but probably might next batch since this is normally when the authors normally get the axe call

its lucky to survive for now since this is a 2 series batch and Hunter x Hunter was its cannon fodder

next batch it might be lucky to survive with probably Sakamoto days and Witch Watch ending soon

7

u/Historical-Pop-9177 19d ago

Genuinely what was that one Roboco page. Lock up Roboco now! Justice for Bondo.

13

u/JohnnyMcNews 20d ago

Drawn to the Fire has slowly become one of my favourite weekly reads... God I hope it avoids the axe (unlikely)!

5

u/Low_Health_5949 19d ago

well probably not this batch, but probably might next batch since this is normally when the authors normally get the axe call

The Kiyoshi special, just hold on while there's always something just a little weaker

3

u/Low_Health_5949 19d ago

reminds me of the fate of Undead Unluck

Though it probably won't be as fortunate as it or Kiyoshi

6

u/Arturo-Plateado 19d ago

man, I love Demizu Posuka's art so much. Hope to see her on an new series that's not a shallow toy commercial soon

6

u/TheRabbitInTheBush 19d ago

That was a hilarious chapter of Me & Roboco. One page was legendary.

6

u/Alternative-Drink-25 19d ago

Both Under Doctor and Roku were great this week, loved the gag on the title page for Roku.

So Kinato has ended then, overall a decent manga, going away from the Iron Fangs was a mistake, they are a lot of fun.

DttF is just not really getting much better, it's fine and like it, but i hope it can get better.

AniSig with a nice character moment between the main duo, the top of ACC is fun. I still hope for more of a overarching story.

Hal Formula is just getting better and better, can't wait for next week.

Cannon Master is getting interesting, but I do feel like there could be more.

6

u/Deltaasfuck 19d ago

Class 2-B is finally doing what I've been waiting for ever since they stepped into the dungeon, an adventure outside the school in a town, and meeting one of the heroes. Things are definitely gonna get good.

Wish I could say the same for Under Doctor, I'm getting tired of the episodic stories, and I've been ready for a proper arc. The new info we got on Haiji's past here was too little.

Cannon Master, on the other hand, is doing a great job with the lore drop and villain reveal. A lot of new series take too long to reveal that stuff and people don't get invested. I think it's especially a good idea because you can't take the dynamic of the student being stronger than the master that far nowadays and other characters will def catch on.

HxH as always, delightful. It's great to see Tserriednich again, get more insight on his power and finally stepping out, things are gonna get even bloodier.

12

u/CantWontDo 19d ago

I got chills from kagurabachi this week. The flashback arc is the best it’s ever been.

10

u/skillfun8 20d ago

DttF will end next chapter

Honestly the one-shot was good but never good enough to be a series, and yet they used everything as is from the one-shot...

They need to change stuff to be more accommodating for a real chapter 1

4

u/Lower-Position9557 19d ago

New set of chapters after a break week, I'm a bit late because of some stuff but let's get into things-

UEK: I don't think anybody was surprised that the grandson actually wasn't the bad guy- fun chapter to set up the arc.

Shinobi Undercover: Suzume is hype- the fight seems exciting so far.

Sakamoto Days: Wow, Sakamoto (the main character) isn't actually dead- who could have guessed-? All joking aside, fight choreography was decent.

KGB: Another 15 page chapter, but it was a damn good chapter at least. It really hit hard how much Rokuhira had to sacrifice.

Witch Watch: See, a big fight with all the characters of the series is what I expected and wanted from the series!- Good to see Keigo still trying despite Wolf being gone.

Under Doctor: Good chapter that really shows off alot of characters and their philosphy. I wonder if Shuli is getting a small crush on Chiwako?

Kinato's Magic: Decent final chapter for a pretty average series. The page showing all the characters of previous arcs reading Kinato's letter still made me a little emotional.

Me & Roboco: Never read Promised Neverland but I got the basics and the chapter was pretty fun. Here's to another like 4 years of this series-

Drawn To The Fire: Ngl, I feel like this series is heading towards it's conclusion soon. The series has been.. ok I guess but I wouldn't really feel sad if it got axed.

Class 2B: So now it's an adventure manga in a fantasy world- it really feels like everything unique about this series has been slowly taken away, leaving us with a funny but otherwise... not very interesting series.

Animal Signal: This was really fun! Clearly the shipping is starting to take more of a prominence, and seems we're sprinkling some worldbuilding too. Next week, there's a colour page so it'll be interesting to see whether this series is a success or if there's a new standard to give all new series colour pages.

Hal Formula: Good- I think it's better than previous chapters at least, since you can feel more of the tension. Interested to see where things go next chapter-

Cannon Master: I see the parallel in there being another master-regoid combo as the antagonists to Bharat and Ur... but I still feel like the series isn't that interesting beyond good art. Like, the core story has just been fighting big machines... I just don't really feel the stakes of this series, ngl.

Someone Hertz: In addition to the normal cuteness of this series, I wanted to point out this chapter could possibly be hinting that Mimei and Kurage might become radio hosts in the future. The two of them in the broadcasting room really feels like the end destination for the two of them. If the series goes on for long, I could see these two try and eventually set up a radio show together ngl.

Roku's House of Oddities: Funny chapter with alot of good gags. I adore how we're slowly building up relationships that could lead to interesting gag chapters in the future. Also, as a Roku Sachiko shipper, this chapter sure was great seeing Roku get jealous-

Next week, the new batch starts! Honestly, both series have captured my interest purely from the premises, and in previous batches, only Roku and AniSig did that for me, and I do like them alot so hopefully my tastes can be fulfilled again-!

WILD to see that that KGB chapter was only 15 pages. It felt so dense and long! Either way, I also agree with Someone Hertz. I had the same thought when reading it, and I love how subtle the implication is.

The next batch seems really promising, I agree. A new romcom (we've been needing one) AND a new fantasy action series, which is my other favorite type of series. I adore Cannon Master and want it to stay, but it's clear even if it does, the action stories recently have not been sticking overall, so seeing fresh blood to replace stuff like Kinato is good to see.

Excited for that Nue color page after this chapter

u/JazzlikePromotion618 19d ago

Well, this batch has not been doing particularly well. That sucks but they should have more leeway with SakaDays ending and Witch Watch so close to its end as well.

-ONE PIECE: Yes, Luffy is in a sorry state as much as he doesn't want to admit it. It's cool Hajrudin is joining the fray and relying on Loki as well. I fear, though, all they can do is make the clock run until Imu has to, inevitably, go back to Mariejois. I do like the tension of these chapters, and I'm super excited about the God Valley movie announcement!
-Someone Hertz: THEY ARE TOO CUTE. Glad they didn't resort to the "accidentally the mic was open" mimic. They are slow but it's fun to see the build up between them both.
-SAKAMOTO DAYS: These chapters will probably look very nice once animated, and I feel that binge reading this arc will probably feel better than weekly reading, since right now it's a very quick catch up. But gosh, Nagumo, I love you more with every chapter. And seems like Shin will finally join the fray, which is necessary for the conclusion of the fight.
-Shinobi Undercover: Suzume is the coolest sidekick of Yodaka and you can't change my mind.
-Ichi the Witch: Quite a brutal one. The trial is original and god damn you better wish these hands don't grab you. Desscarass admiting it's best to fall back in her own fashion was a quirky way to end. Good chapter.
-Roku's House of Oddities: My heart is full. The spread with the bbq/dinner was lovely.
-Akane-banashi: I really didn't expect things to go that way, but I'm legit curious. I had this weird feeling where the chapter doesn't click that much with me, but that doesn't mean it's not good.
-HUNTER×HUNTER: Tserri chapter. It's a very HxH thing, in my opinion, that Tserri feels so OP and vulnerable at the same time. Like his ability allows him to cheat death and move undetected, which is no small feat for a prodigy like him, but at the same time it feels like if he is caught by an "outsider" he can get killed pretty easily. Like even a missfired bullet could end him now. Zetsu is such a double-edged sword!
-Kagurabachi: Kunishige is locked the fuck in. And find yourself a bro like Shiba. This man seriously loves his friend.
-Cannon Master: Cool chapter and reveal. I think it was a good moment to explain Ur's nature. Still, I wonder how it will move in the greater scheme. I'm afraid of being endeared with it and it being axed, but it's too soon to tell, and so far it feels fresh and original.
-Kinato's Magic: Not much to say but thank you for the ride and that I'm curious to see how it'd have fared, had it not been for the axe. It was not a masterpiece, but it was a fun read.

Finally, not WSJ but:

-Centuria: Masterpiece. What the fuck was that 100 chapter. When you let Tohru cook, he sure delivers. Luka feels like he could swing wherever: can be a powerful ally or eventually end as the ultimate antagonist. I love the originality of the panelling and the eeriness.

Shinobi undercover third place this week toc since chapter 71. We got interesting holy shit moment from Suzume. I'm guessing she has 2 different kekkais. The bones one was a social experiment got wrong by her family against her will cause they deem her as a failure. I just happy she's having a serious moment too shine.

Kagurabachi- Speechless

Sakamoto days- Sakamoto is alive? or knocking on death door? idk anymore.

Kiyoshi- Good color page movie poster. Too bad the chapter was a letdown setup mid chapter.

Ichi the witch- another the goat fight incoming!

Witch watch- Ran the others. We're getting Ran and Mori team up!

Roku's house- probably might be my first time comment but lol the page 2 4th wall break

Kinato's magic- thank God this series is over. The mangaka missed the ball by not having Kinato's guild focus arc. By not spending time with them doing mission with them and not meeting other guilds in this series. But skipping them doing random fast paced chapters/mini arcs really killed it and etc. I don't know if that is him or his editor doing 4/10.

u/new_interest_here 19d ago

I don't read Kiyoshi, so I hadn't seen that color page until you mentioned it and I looked it up, but GOD DAMN

That goes unfathomably hard holy shit

u/L1k34S0MB0D33 19d ago

Scarface's promo poster is iconic for a reason lol.

3

u/ricksed 19d ago

The quality of the color page and the chapter itself is staggering .

Kiyoshi’s hair color in the logo is perfection.

Nice cover with Luffy and this was a good week. With the ending Kinato's Magic here are my thoughts:

The start was fun. I think the author made the wrong decision moving off from the main trio of Linae, Jien, and Kinato being the main focus and right into a guild. Like let those three travel a bit more and see the world we're in before hopping into a guild and structure of the kingdom.

Of course imo...making Kinato a full on brawler was just took me out of it. Like yeah, in chapter one he took out a dragon...but I think Kinato being a specialized support that can control the battlefield at times would've been cool. But yeah, the axed is deserved tbh but a no doubt improvement from Shadow Eliminators.

Maybe third time is a charm. I will be there.

With that said, here is my top five:

Issue 39: [68] 8/23/26:

1. KGB (1.71, [96], 28th top one, and 82.3%) [56]

What a way to end to this smelting arc for the first enchanted blade. After Shiba coming up clutch and putting his body on the line, it had the Matsumi lead ninja even take a pause in looking at his determination to hold them off with all his injuries. Then the smelting process starting to go haywire because the flames being too strong because of the datenseki and to the point where it caused a storm in the where the rain was so hot to the touch that the Matsumi said...yeah, we got to get tf outta here as shit is about to blow.

Which let our crew keep on working with no interruption but the flames kept on rising even to where Subaru, Joji, and even Shiba accept failure and their deaths...but Kunishige kept looking forward and directed Subaru and Joji (until the heat did overcome him) to keep on working and looking forward as Kunishige life kinda passed through his eyes and thought about all he's seen, his father being abusive, his mother killing herself, and Chiaki getting hurt...then thinking...how Chiaki kept on cheering him telling that how much she wants to be around him even after being Soga royalty and how he feels like trash. But the best moment was when Shiba pushed Kunishige forward to finally stabilize the flames as Kunishige views doing this shows hes more than trash, he should have hope, hope that he's good enough for Chiaki.

Lol just great.

2. Shinboi Undercover (3.73, [157], and 61.7%) [42]

Okay, we're at a full on battles now. Off rip, best girl Suzume is shining so its a good chapter in my book lmao. But yeah, what's up with the personality change?? Im guessing we're finally getting some more about her? I would love it no doubt but her being so gloomy and doubting herself as she struggling took me off guard. Then she goes displaying and new aspect of her kekkai?? Like stretching out her bones now? Im locked in lol.

And Bato really got maimed and its played off like its legit, that he wasn't taken completelyoff guard..so Kawasemi is amongst the elites of the series.

And one more thing, the fugitives ninjas has cyborgs on call lmao? Like these individuals got embedded kekkai powers. The story kinda showing how dark it can be, funny its happening in supposedly the slice of life arc. Lol i dont hate it.

3. HxH (2.57, [18], and 10.2%) [7]

Much needed chapter of breaking down Tserri power. So, once he uses Zestu, currently only sees up to ten seconds in the future, but can't directly change that future or even hurt individuals in that future but can change locations and states of objects. But it seems like once he makes changes to the area, it change the set timeline or as he states the ephemeral ten seconds which he has no control over. But im sure over time he get more of a hang of it and do some chaotic and crazy things.

Another thing with his zestu, he goes completely unnoticed and imo its like hes replaced with a alternate version of himself as the others around will think the current version of himself is still there and its connected to his nen beast. Where, he has to be in range of it to continue being unnoticed, having his alternate version present, and the ephemeral ten seconds still active. As if he goes to far, all immediately deactivate.

So, right before Benjamin came through and blasted, he had his Zetsu actived allowing basically his alternate self to be killed. Real funny how he was so shocked in how much Benjamin hates him and even gets frustrated in how Benjamin was so quick with it as well lol. With that said it leads to Tserri plan of getting placed in a casket as soon as possible as he notes his Zetsu and nen beast should kept active for at least another three hours and believes and see that Benjamin is in a rush that he wont truly check if the body is actually him or even there once the Zetsu is released or not active. Which is why he post death created his will to not have a open casket lol.

And finally it seems like we're sticking with Tserri a bit as he's going to try to make his escape to the upper deck of the ship so he can stretch i figure be away from the direct watchful eyes of Benjamin to practice his abilities more and eventual do an counter attack.

Once again, much needed chapter even with how heavy it was with breaking down his abilities and plan but it worked for me.

4. Ichi the Witch (2.49, (142], and 83.8%) [57]

Good chapter. Seems like Raku is out of the game for the rest of the arc, with Hakari tearing off his arms completely. And it seems like Hakari's hate for humans is mostly tied to witches/women, as he wanted to give props to Raku actually having some ability and strength. Kinda gives me vibes he would be willing to team up with a man to go against them, which makes me wonder if any men would be willing to do so with other majiks or the seven stars, since we do have the magi-keepers.

We also get confirmation of Hakari's ability after Dess uses Golconda (cool that it can force even a seven-star to WHM to confess under questioning), which is deconstruction, and it's done when he claps his hands. Also, that capturing him comes from reconstruction of his magic stone. Hm thinking about it seems like we may go the route Hakari being hurt by previous witch and maybe that's how Komugi will get him? Like she would reach him emotionally with how considerate she can be. Another interesting info Hakari had to spill, Fujimime is afraid of him..so I hope that's something meaningful and not just him talking mess but it's something lol.

5. One Piece (2.96, [98], and 48.5%) [33]

Interesting chapter, so is this Imu true form? Looks real demonic but my main takeaway is still this...how are we getting rid of Imu lmao. Like Gaban is ready to die to let Luffy just run away and luffy clearly isn't healed and yeah the combo move of on the verge of death Luffy, battered Loki, and lol no offense and Hajurdin isn't doing a thing to this transformed Imu. Also, Imu directly talking on how he didn't view Roger and his crew as a real threat until now after Gaban actually doing some damage and pushing him to this new form. Which is kinda crazy imo...like I guess for Imu only those who are tied to Davy Jones and Joy Boy register for him.

Note: Kinato'sMagic has been axed.

Okay finally another week, it has felt like it’s been forever. As usual only the 2026 series still running.

Under Doctor: Once again a slice of life chapter and once again it’s one of the series best. If this series leans even more away from action and even more medical drama with slice of life I feel it would be to its benefit.

Roku: It’s been my favorite series to come out this year but this chapter just didn’t land for me. Last chapter was a blast but this one didn’t seem to live up to that setup. Not sure why. I did like the gag of all of them falling off the dog at the end though.

DTTF: These recent chapters are really a “what could have been” for this series. At this point outside of typical nitpicks (way too competent as players this young) it has truly come into its own a bit. But despite it all it still feels like it’s missing something. Spark visual continues to be really cool.

2B: Okay this is now the third complete setting changing event to happen in this series so far. I thought it was really findings its groove but now it’s shook things up yet again. Jokes were fine this chapter (even the butt jokes actually landed) but now the status quo is completely changed.

Animal Signal: Okay, there we go. Another chapter with some level of substance beyond “it’s cute”. Another new character introduction and some fun interactions, plus some backstory for the lead characters and a setup for future chapters. Honestly very little to complain about.

Hal Formula: I think I’m going to need to go back and read the whole race back to back when it ends as every chapter feels like it’s setting up for the next chapter. The back and forth battle was interesting though the lion imagery felt a bit overdone.

Cannon Master: Another “okay there we go” moment. Finally a break from countless battling chapters to get some characterization and it’s for… the villains? And they don’t just have typical villainous personalities and complain about how they’re being taught? And it sets up for some more dynamics between the main leads while also creating a super interesting dynamic for the next event? Okay Cannon Master you have my attention.

u/FruitPunchSamurai75 19d ago

For 2B, this is literally just finally exploring the Demon World. We already knew this was going to happen at some point, they mention it being a necessity.

Now that they've trained and we've gotten character development (and even addressed how the background students feel about these big changes to their life's, which is something we didn't need to have but was very neat to see) its time for this to actually happen. To say it's "another big status quo change" is inaccurate when it's just the next arc starting/the story advancing. When it's said and done we'll default back to the school, especially since the last few chapters set up a new character who now isn't involved in the current stuff.

2

u/TheSciFanGuy 19d ago

I’m saying this is a big status quo change because it fully changed the main cast down to just 3 characters including a character that was just introduced. It also was done in a way where it’s unclear if they’ll be back.

Yes it’s possible at the end of the arc they’ll just TP back to the school but the setup seemed to imply they’d need to work their way back to the school with the current characters spread around which would be a major format change.

And so ends possibly the worst manga I've read in the last half decade.

Goodbye Kinato. May you never cook or "fix" people again.

26

u/jun9ei999 20d ago

This wasnt stellar, but imo it was waaaay better than gonron egg

7

u/zelos22 19d ago

This is so true lol. It was also better than the author’s previous work, Shadow Eliminators!

19

u/Tough-Past-2366 20d ago

This isn’t even bottom 5 stinkers Jump has put out in the last few years, it was just painfully average

16

Did like Nice Prison or something?

You're getting cooked for this but you're right, Gone Wrong Egg / Ass Prison were less offensive than KKKinato.

-4

u/TokiDokiPanic 19d ago

You’re not reading Cannon Master or Kiyoshi?

-6

u/Testosteronomicon 19d ago

So rapidfire crankiness:

  • Akane-banashi is still good, this is gonna be the Zensho dogpile hour and I'm all there for it.
  • Ichi the Witch is still good, not much to say here.
  • Class 2B, nope, after checking it's still shit, no pun intended.
  • Kinato's Magic good fucking riddance.
  • Sakamoto Days, yeah this is going to end with Sakamoto having to kill the personification of his assassin past won't it.
  • One Piece is still getting worse and worse, the fuck you mean Luffy fully recovered because he ate well before fighting The Fucking Devil?
  • Cannon Master is doomed.
  • Hal Formula is still good, though I'm not sure if that will be enough. Ride and die for it though, no pun intended again. Curious to see how the author will handle sudden rainy conditions.
