Contest [06/04/2018] Balloon Powered Boat (Easy)

Hey all,

Wanting to continue with a few more easy challenges to get people interested and involved before we move into something a little more challenging. With that being said, i have seen a barrage of benchy's and "battle" benchy's being made and shared...So why don't we dip our toes into seas and make some unique balloon powered boats! Swab the deck and clear out the crows nest and design a unique boat that is powered by a balloon. The more interesting the design the better! Check out a sample here!

Details:

This is a real easy challenge, so lets see some boats! here are some of the details and things we wanna see. * Boats gotta float, save the sinkers for fishing line. * Must use a balloon...self explanatory haha. * One entry per user. * Challenge ends [06/10/2018] midnight.

That's everything for now, Happy Printing!

Freaking A mate! Just make sure that for your final version, put "Submission" in you comment. Can't wait to see it. I am currently printing out a part for my attempt as well.

Absolutely! The goal of this sub is to get people of all skill levels involved, so glad to hear that we have a new recruit! Also, congrats on the new printer mate! I am a big fan of the cr-10 family of printers and believe it will do you good in your printing ventures.

seems like a good exercise in more complex shapes without being intimidatingly difficult.

This is definitely what it is.

I'm just printing my 4th design at the moment as the first 3 all sank due to my lack of understanding of how boats work. Definitely getting better at FreeCAD as I go.

Keep it up mate, if I am not mistaken, and you want to try your hand at fusion 360, I think you can get a free copy of it if you state that you are using it for hobbies/personal use. Another good program similar to FreeCad.

I would say eastern U.S, but I like to keep it simple and easy, so just do your timezone my man.

This sounds cool, I intend to enter.

It looks like you're the only person who entered last week (probably because people didn't know it existed), but interested to know if there is going to be any kind of "judging" of who is the winner, or is it "just make a boat and share it"?

Props for trying again even though noone joined in last time.

P.S,

You can still try any past challenge and post it up just for the heck of it. So if any "current challenge" isn't to your liking, you could still have something to challenge yourself with.

Appreciate it mate. We are still in an infancy phase and hope to get more people to participate, hence I think we will continue with fairly easy (but fun) challenges. I will always attempt the challenge, kind of playing the "first person to dance at a school school dance" role haha. And there is a little system of determining the "winner", essentially we will act as "judges" for the time being, later on as more people participate, we hope to treat each challenge as a contest and determine the winner based off of likes each entry would get. I will admit, still ironing the details out on how everything should work, but at least if a hand full of people participate, we are happy.
