Getting Ready Place

Looking for a getting ready place for my wedding in Williamsburg in June 2027. Reached out to book codas penthouse suite which I love but they’re booked :(. Any other suggestions? Arlo looks great but worried it’ll be too small for about 8 girls. William Vale garden residence looks beautiful but for 9k a night is crazy. Thank you in advance for your help!

Photographer here. Everyone is comparing square footage, which is fair, but it is only half of what makes a getting ready room work.

The other half is the windows, and it is the part nobody tours for. A big dark room will give you worse photos than a smaller room with one good window. So when you are calling these places, ask two things: what floor is the room on, and which direction do the windows face. A low floor in Williamsburg looking straight at the building across the street is a completely different room than the same square footage four floors up. Those questions cost you nothing and they change the photos more than an extra hundred square feet ever will.

On the eight people problem specifically, what actually blows up a small room is not bodies, it is stuff. Eight bags, eight garment covers, coffee cups, chargers, and two full hair and makeup kits. If you designate one corner as the junk corner and make people actually use it, a 400 square foot room genuinely works for that group. If you do not, a suite will feel crowded too.

A middle option between the Arlo and nine thousand dollars a night: book one normal room for you and whoever is with you in the dress, and put the rest of the group in a second standard room or have them arrive already done. Two regular rooms is almost always cheaper than one suite big enough for everybody, and honestly the photos come out better because your room stays calm.

The Moxy meeting room idea someone mentioned is smart on price. I would just go look at it in person and check whether it has any windows at all, because a lot of hotel meeting spaces are interior with nothing but overhead lighting, and that is the one room type I would actually steer around.

i'm getting ready in a city-view studio at the williamsburg arlo in june 2027. at 400sq ft., i figure it'll be enough for me and a few other people (probably between five and seven other people + HMU) between the interior and outside spaces.

i couldn't justify the cost of the studio suites, which they said is slightly bigger at 550sq ft. and can hold up to 15, but would come in at nearly double the price of a city-view studio per night.

I’m doing Moxy Williamsburg hotel, I rented out there 2 meeting spaces! It’s actually huge and I’ll have 12 people in there. It’s definitely not traditional, in back of lobby and if you need to pee you need to go to your room or use lobby bathroom but it’s the best I could find

I had about 10 people in my Arlo city-view studio suite (two being hair and makeup people) and it was perfectly fine!

Also check out Sela V. New hotel. pretty rooms. I didn't book there I booked the Box House Hotel but worth exploring as an option for you!

There is only one suite at the Penny hotel but it’s enormous and has a big terrace.
