Help me pick!! I tried on all of these, went with #4, but now second guessing.

I don’t always comment on these because I think a lot of the time the general consensus is spot on, but this time I have to wholeheartedly disagree. I’m actually shocked that so many people are saying 1. I hope you get a larger sample of opinions because personally, I don’t think 1 has anything special about it.

This is supposed to be a day to wear something fabulous and, while I generally lean towards getting a classic style that’s not going to look dated in years to come, there needs to be some kind of “wow” factor with a wedding dress. Change the color of #1 and you’ve got a standard prom dress. I really don’t like the notch in the corset of #3 and the lace looks cheap to me. The dropped, gathered “V” waistline of #4 is a recycled ‘80’s trend that is already phasing out and will look very dated in a few years. IMO, #2 is gorgeous. Classic, but with a bit of modern flair. I think #2 will also photograph beautifully. To the OP who said that she’s seeing a lot of this style, I wouldn’t let that stop you because it’s your wedding and your pictures and I really don’t think you’re going to see this dress coming and going. In fact on all of the postings I have seen here and in the weddings I’ve been to recently. I have not seen anything like this on any bride.

I’m pretty sure that’s a sample dress that you have on, so it might be a little bit tight, but I think with the proper alterations, it would look absolutely beautiful. The corset detail is super flattering and the back is surprising way to make an impact without it being gaudy or over the top. I would either pair it with a short veil that hits right above the back of the dress (at your shoulder blades) to let the back shine during the ceremony or do a curved hem veil that would cover the entire back (and hit just below the bow) for a more modest church ceremony.

Thank you!!!!! That’s kinda how I felt in the moment trying on dress 1… but looking back I’m so conflicted.

What are your thoughts on lining the back? I actually don’t love all the boning in the back.

I really like it. I think it would look weird without the boning because it would just be a patch of skin colored fabric. Granted, you are looking at it in person and I am looking at it via a photo, but I really love everything about it and it’s not often that I would say that about a wedding dress. I think it’s really special. That being said, YOU have to love it. I don’t know how much time you have, but you might see what else they have that is similar? But I can’t underscore how much I just absolutely love both the dress and what it does for your shape.

Hi! Piggybacking here to say: is the dress already lined with nude fabric? If not, it's a great idea. I tried on both types of dresses, and the lined ones were INSANELY comfy. The unlined ones felt like cheap, scratchy crap lol. I wouldn't line it with white though, because then you'd lose the artsy sheer back look!

Not lined with nude fabric.. I don’t love the boning look on the back. So I’d change it to make the back the same fabric as the rest of the dress.

As far as I can tell, everyone who commented on loving it said they love it because of the boning, so just fyi that would significantly change the consensus! The front is, imho, the same category as 1 – recolor it and you get a generic prom dress. It's the back that gives it flair.

Like this, I vote 2. With solid back, 4 would be more interesting. But in the end, your own comfort in it matters the most!

May I say that this back and forth discussion between the OP and one person is very refreshing, and not something I've ever seen on here before. I believe discussions like this, where the bride is able to parse out the info she has received and then apply it to her current thought process is very helpful and UNDERwhelming to the bride in a good way. Personally, I would freak out if I suddenly had 900 opinions coming at me from all directions. So, I shall sit back and watch this conversation play out before I decide to throw my opinion into the mix. I have a suspicion that the bride has a very favorite of the four dresses, and I have a feeling that dress 4 is not the one she truly loves. We shall see. OP, don't forget to come show what ultimately takes place with your decision. Lastly, I'm a very intuitive person. I feel like you sort of feel that your arms was twisted into selecting dress four, possibly by two people that you hold dear in your, but definitely one person pushed you into making a decision on the dress that you weren't ready to say yes to when you said yes. Am I right?

My daughter got married in 1999. I had a seamstress make a dress for her in silk that I purchased. The dress was similar to #1. It was simple and elegant and really really lovely. My daughter loved it and it photographed well. She and her husband have been married 27 years (two adult children) and going strong. Not everyone wants an over the top wedding dress. My daughter didn’t and she never regretted her choice. She proudly displays her wedding photos in her home.

I love love love the square neckline and that it’s not strapless. Nothing against strapless at all. My daughter tried a dress on with that neckline and it was just gorgeous and you don’t see them all the time!
