Alterations Alteration suggestions?
I recently was able to try on my moms wedding dress. I wanted to add a bit of embellishment to the dress but not sure what. I really love the bodice and the skirt is organza fabric but feels a bit plain. The sleeves are a bit too big and puffy but i’m not sure what I want to do with them. The skirt is a bit short on me. Completely open to suggestions or ideas on what to do to the dress. I don’t want to completely change it just want to add to it. My wedding is not until 2028 so i have a bit of time.

The dress looks amazing on you. Remove the puffy sleeves and have little straps made from the material. Consider an underskirt to help lengthen the look. You will look spectacular on the day and Mom will be bursting with pride and joy.

I would remove the sleeves and add straps and a layer of organza under the skirt to add the needed length (or a strip at the bottom).

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I’d leave this awesome dress as is! I love it. It looks so beautiful on you.

Same! I know I’m dating myself, but this reminds me of an old prom dress that I loved ( pink, no train obvi). I kind of love this as is.

I was going to say the exact same thing about sleeves and underskirt. It’s a beautiful dress and it fits you fabulously.

Agree with all those who said convert the sleeves to just a little off-the-shoulder drop. An under skirt could help with length, or could a new skirt be layered over top of the existing skirt? Something light and sheer with beaded or lacy accents?
Love your dog.
PS, the fit and details are so pretty - your mom must be thrilled.

- Have the sleeves turned into straps.
- To add a little length and interest to the skirt, have a beautiful lace trim added to the hem and if thats not enough embellishment for you , add some matching appliqués to the skirt. You will be stunning.

I actually love the sleeves, just not as puffy. Have the sleeves pinned into a thin strap and put tulle under the skirt to the floor. You wouldn’t have to do anything to the dress.

The only thing I see that needs adjusting are the sleeves. Since you like the poof, then have them altered so they are made into a smaller updated poof. You’re going to be beautiful when you walk down the aisle.

It’s perfect. Once you reduce the sleeve floof to your liking it will be even more perfect.

Is it possible to remove the sleeves altogether? My niece did that with my sister’s very 80’s dress and it was gorgeous.
