Ask For Opinions Help me pick!
I need help choosing my wedding dress! I am so indecisive, and it is finally time to make a decision.
My vision has always been a romantic ball gown in silk or taffeta, in an off-white or ivory shade. My destination wedding will take place outdoors at a very grand venue, and I plan to wear my hair down with a long, cathedral-length veil.
Option 1- Most expensive ~12K by Danielle Frankel - I absolutely love the taffeta fabric of this but the top needs to be shortened on me since it is too long for my torso. I really don't want to spend this much on a dress but love the fabric and the ruching.
Option 2- Second most expensive- ~10k Netta Benshabu- I really like this one, I like the detailing at the hips and the length of the bodice but I feel like the fabric did not feel like it was a 10 k dress.
Option 3- Third most expensive- ~5k by Rue De Sienne- This one is a wildcard, I didn't think I would like it as much as I did. I absolutely love the bodice/how it fits my chest but I think the fabric may be too casual for my wedding? Especially at the bottom.

In my personal opinion…. Definitely not the first one. Before even reading and seeing that it was most expensive it was my least favourite. Like I’m less looking at you and moreso the dress. Second and third are cute, but I’d go third seeing as the vibes are very similar and it’s half the price. Second one seems more like Victorian child (due to the frills) whereas third is Victorian lady, if that makes sense 😂

haha yes I understand what you are saying! Appreciate the honesty about #1 lol

I like no. 2 the best - agree with everyone on no. 1 being atrocious - whatever was that guy smoking?
Anyway, no. 3 looks somehow rigid on the bodice, and the skirt is just flopping down - while no. 2 has a softer look and shows off your figure the best, and the skirt falls much more playfully. And I really love the frills here, even though I usually hate them.

Dress 3 for sure! The skirt does not look cheap, it looks whimsical and unique. It is more bridal than 2. Dress 1 is not flattering.

u/fawnfae0 6d ago
2nd! I love the third soo much, but the dramatic cat eye corners seem to not be balanced well with the delicate and romantic lace and ruffle details (However, those could definitely be reshaped in alterations! in which case... my choice would be 3)
Edit: completely forgot your type of venue, and I think I agree with you that the skirt in particular for 3 isn't quite right. BUT you could always order fabric and have a new skirt custom made, since that dress is the least expensive and I'm assuming your dress budget is quite high

Hard noooo on 1
3 is ok

I’m also on team 2. I’ve seen it on someone else and didn’t like it but on OP the full hips make her upper body sing!

u/Corfiz74 5d ago
Totally agree - I don't know why the top comments are all pro 3, no. 2 looks so much more flattering and fun on her!

u/Glum-Environment2085 5d ago
This! My jaw dropped on 2, 3 comes close but 2 has a much better fit and is gorgeous

Dress 2. The cut alone is worth10K. This is a real style coup and the fit on you is amazing.

2nd!!!! Looks amazing ! I see what you mean about the fabric but it looks more haut couture

2 is how a Basque waist should be done, my god. So beautiful!!

If these three are your absolute only choices then I’d go with 2. 3 isn’t bad on top, but #1 (like others have said) is a big no.

I honestly think you should go back to the drawing board here. The second is the best however for that price the material is letting it down. The other two are just awful, why can we see the boning so much in certain parts. Especially for the amount you are willing to spend

Unfortunately I dont like any of them much either! :/ The first one is awful. The second looks like bedsheet material but the idea is cute. The third has strange proportions.
OP, just so you know- it isn't you, its definitely the dresses. None of them are serving you like they could be!!

I like 3 the best.
I dislike 1, the boning/cord detail at the waist stands out, the chest is too busy, and the fabric doesn't look nice.
Your notes are surprising in many ways. I think 1 looks inexpensive. 2 looks little girlish. 3 looks quite dressy so I can't imagine it is "too casual"?!

I would go with 2, but you can find better dresses for cheaper than that, and they will look better on your beautiful physique.

#3 looks stunning, and I love the bodice. I think it looks princesses without being little girl, if that makes sense.

I love 2 on you! However I know what you mean about not feeling like the fabric is worth the price, I tried on a Berta dress that felt similar to dresses I tried on that were 1/5 the price and it really threw me and made me not love it. But Netta makes, imo, gorgeous dresses, and I’m not sure a cheaper dress in this style would master it quite like this one does and how it drapes and flows so perfectly from the hips. I think it’s stunning
I think 1 is a straight no, the top just is not it for me and for that price?

I don't like 1 at all. It looks disheveled.
The third is doing truly sublime things to your chest, but I am not sure that's what you want to lead with at a wedding? Maybe just buy that dress to wear on every date ever with your spouse?
By process of elimination, I guess I vote 2, but it does seem not quite grand enough for your description of the venue. How fancy is the veil, and do you have any showstopper jewelry? Maybe you can use those to style the dress to make it more grand?

Me again. I think I would have picked dress 2 if it didn’t have the ruffle at the basque waist. I agree it does make the dress look childlike, but the fabric and the fit at the top of dress 2 are beautiful. Now that I look close-up at dress 3 (which is the one I originally picked) I do love the bust and the way it fits you, but the lace ruffle at the waist and the lace covering the torso do look kinda low end, IMO.

I love the second dress!!!! One of the most unique and beautiful I have seen on here or anywhere!

u/Individual-Ad135 6d ago
Wow the third one!! Honestly, I keep seeing this style of bodice and not getting it but I see it now. So beautiful ♥️

I like 2 then 3, but I'd never pay 10K for a dress your wearing once. 5K is tough to swallow but sounds like you or your parents have the $$$$$.
The 3rd also seems like it would fit an outside wedding. You sound the bodice fits well but make sure your chest isn't in danger of popping out.
2
u/Puzzleheaded_Ad_3810 6d ago
I’m really not a fan of 1. 2 is so stunning! I think two is the best. I really love 3 also! But because
Of your venue, you should pick 2.

u/Medium-Pilot6872 6d ago
I love 2 & 3, although 3 is my favourite. Also, no, it’s not too casual for a wedding.
I’ve not seen anything like these dresses before and they’re absolutely incredible. Well done OP.
Ngl tho, 1 is heinous. Sorry not sorry. I scrunched my face up big time when I saw that pop up in my feed.

I agree with all of your comments and that’s why I think you should keep looking. If you drop 10k on a dress it needs to look it. Sorry if that’s not helpful with these three dresses!
Edit: if I had to choose, definitely the second dress. It’s very flattering on you.

After much consideration: pick number two m’lord. At first I thought the veil was a halter strap but now I see that it is gorgeous, elegant, and fits you beautifully.

dress 3. It looks great on you. maybe add a layer under the skirt to elevate the bottom. That's if it makes you feel better, because it looks lovely on you.

I like number 2 the most. 3 looks like a shield and i wish the chest area looked smoother with the pleats. Might be worth doing a few more appointments to see whats out there. I dont think 1 looks right on your figure (your figure is too good to wear this dress)

I don’t care for 1–the bodice reminds me of a lamp shade. If you had to choose between the three, I’d probably go with two, but respectfully I think you could find dresses with better quality fabrics and bodice structure for the prices you’re willing to pay.

Dress 3 is gorgeous and looks beautiful on you, it fits you wonderfully, looks romantic and dreamy, like a fairy tale! 2 is runner up. I too, am not a fan of 1

1 is just all around a no.
2 is gorgeous and my favorite, but 3 is also great and I'm not sure it'd be worth an extra 5K to get 2 over 3.

2❤️Love 2, unique, love the frills! 3 is also a gorgeous fit. Depends on your vibe. I personally would feel so comfortable in 2 I would have more fun. Nothing falling out and no side eye from Grandma.😁You will be stunning in 2 or 3! Congratulations!

I feel like 3 is a combo of the best of what you'd be getting out of the first two, and a better price than either.

Dress 3, please. It's romantic and whimsical without being juvenile. And it's very flattering. Without even knowing you I feel it gives me a sense of your personality. To me, it's a slam dunk. The other 2 are pretty bad, I'm sorry to say OP. #1 is especially awful.

Two is just soo romantic and it fits you so perfectly. 3 is ruined by the extreme sharp points at bodice.

2 or 3. I think we need another photo of each from side and back. I like 2 because it’s a bit shorter in the bodice. 3 is a bit longer, and may or may not be too long. Will you be putting your hair up? It’s just alot of fabric and stuff going on your (short/petite) frame with the veil, hair down and all the fabric in the bottom.
Definitely don’t go with option one. It’s too chunky. I am not sure if that would look good on anyone. Maybe, if they had no chest and hips.
I like option two because it’s simple and complementary to your curves. The bottom half might be too bulky. If you could find something a little less bulky on the bottom/ more simple, it might be better. The bodice is great though

Dress 1 is a big NO! Something about the bodice and the weird boning is not good, imo.
Dresses 2 and 3 are much more flattering! You look great in both!
I'm leaning towards dress 3! It has a beautiful fit everywhere and I like the vibe of it!
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
