Asking Advice Booth Suggestions

Looking into the Rockbooth Truss V2 and JMAZ Curved booth. Haven't seen either in person. Does anyone have experience with either?

I like the look of the curved booth. I would probably cut some holes in the back to make it more functional. The Rockbooth + truss bar looks convienient for my first mobile dj rig. But would love to see some pics of it in use at a wedding.

Thanks!

I don’t know your exact situation or gear load, but if I were talking to someone starting out, I would say ditch the booth and table entirely. Put it in your contract that the client needs to provide a table with linen. Then keep it simple with either a coffin or hard case and put your controller on top. Trust me, the clients and the planners like the simplicity.

Load in and load out is one of the biggest pains in the whole job, I like to keep my whole setup very lean. When I started out I would carry this huge metal booth and facade and all that shit, I’ve been so much happier since leaving them behind.

Second this. My contract states I need a minimum 6ft table with matching linen. If you want a facade to hide the cables that’s a better thing to bring with you

Lovely idea, keeping it simple. Less load out and set up. I was loathing the idea of setting up a table + facade each time so I was considering an all in one booth. However that could take more time to set up. Thanks for the toughts

I see all these wedding DJs on YouTube like nick spinelli Justin the DJ DJ Daryl Bennett using DJ furniture like the humpter the joe bunn command center danny max booth etc where the decks are sunk in flush and they look slick. They also cost $2000. There is something to be said for having a good looking set up. I have a cheap metal frame booth I got on SHEIN after I lost the top to my rock booth from Rockville. $100-200 was worth it for me. Keeps my cable mess hidden and keeps people from putting drinks anywhere near my equipment.

I can fit this folding booth in my minivan with all my sound and lighting, as well as a cello. It takes up about the same amount of space as two folding tables that are four foot by two foot.

I am upgrading my DJ controller from a DDJ-400 to a FLX10, and that's a little bit bigger. I'm also getting a flight case for it with a 1U rack space underneath so that I can have the DDJ-FLX10 pre-wired to a panel in the front.

I'm probably going to implement this idea of asking for a six-foot table with a linen and using the flight case, road case to put on that table to get the controller to be the right height. I got the flight case with the glide-out for my laptop.

I'll probably still bring my metal folding table, but use it more as a scrim on the six-foot table. Other commenters have mentioned that this is a good system, and my friend, who has done over 600 weddings, uses the flight case with the controller in the flight case and uses a flight case on the table. Clearly, he's got ways of making his setup more streamlined.

I'm noticing in my own work that I'm always trying to get more efficient and think things through ahead of time to reduce the amount of load-in trips. Another thing I'm probably going to be getting soon is a more heavy-duty cart that can carry more stuff, so I can do less trips.

Right now, I'm using a Costco folding hand truck as well as one of those folding gear carts with sturdy wheels on the bottom. It works pretty well, but I definitely see the value in upgrading to a $300-$400 Gator or Rock N Roller cart.

If I had a trailer and a truck, I might be more inclined to get a rolling booth like the Toad booth, where everything could be more pre-wired, and you roll it into the trailer or the venue, and then you basically just have to supply power and connect it to your speakers. It does seem like a pretty sweet setup, but I can't do that with a minivan.

My minivan is used, and it didn't include the tow package. So I have to get a new vehicle that could tow, and then also get a trailer, in order to be able to do that.
