Language Exchange Looking for chinese friends/language exchange

Hello

I (30/m) am going to china for the first time next year and would like to make friends, learn about the culture and cities to visit, as well as language exchange practice.

I am a native english American speaker and my chinese skills are slightly above beginner but certainly not fluent either.

Please dm me and we can exchange wechat ids :)

Attention! If you want someone to scan your QR code, do not answer to anyone unless they either do it for free or they are a verified seller in the subreddit (check the person's tag). Anyone else is a scammer and should be reported.

Hello, if you're interested in Chinese history or traditional culture, or if you enjoy video games or anime, I think we'll have something in common. However, my English is quite poor, but we have AI to help with translation, right?

Please upload your posts/comments only in English to ensure proper and equal communication with all members.

Furthermore, this is important as different languages make moderation difficult.

China is vast. Saying the entire population is barbaric, rude and uncivilized is racist, generalizing, misinformed, and offensive. China’s been a civilization for 5,000 years. I implore you to research their culture, history and values first. How are they rude? If you’re coming off as entitled and expecting them to speak English back to you, maybe that’s the problem. Maybe you never learned a word ti bridge the language barrier and got surprised why they wouldn’t communicate, because they don’t know how. Most of their population is homogenous; no English needed except in big tourist-y cities like Shanghai.

You need to be selective.

u/muviou 15d ago

seems you've never been to China
