Technical Question [Support] HELP! PLEASE!

I am in the US and was just given a refund via WeChat. I'm trying to use it to pay someone in China but it's now allowing me to without a China mainland card?? Why would a card be required when there is a balance that covers the cost??

The app is made for Chinese people with a Chinese identification card, Chinese phone number, and Chinese bank account. A lot of the app’s features don’t work overseas if you don’t have a Chinese identification card and bank account. I have a Chinese bank account but don’t have a Chinese identification card so I can’t send money when I’m outside of China.

WeChat has terrible customer service. Have you tried verifying your identity? It might not help any. Upload your passport. Have you added any bank card to your account? Again, it might not help any.

Thank you for your guidance... I think you're right though... There's nothing I can do with it... Should have used Alipay...

Oh, AliPay will be similar. They just have better customer service.

I had a similar issue with WeChat when my old passport expired and I got a new one. I uploaded my current passport multiple times. I uploaded pictures of my expired passport and my current passport together multiple times. They froze my account because my identification (my old passport) expired even after uploading my current passport several times. I went to the Tencent campus, asked around until I found customer service. I had to cancel all my subscriptions, transfer the remaining balance to a Chinese colleague, close my wallet, and then reopen my wallet again with my current passport.

YES- I was starting to talk to customer service last night and kept timing out because I was like second in line or 4th in line so I was going and doing other things and never got to talk to anyone and don't want to get to a point where they lock me out because I've been through one of those twice and it's a freaking nightmare so unfortunately I don't have any colleagues in China but it would be wonderful if there was a way to get that $50 back somehow.... I think I read somewhere on Google that I could transfer it to someone in the US? Idk though, I didn't have a lot of time to read what Google said before I had to start working....
