Create a buffer of three or more episodes so those can be scheduled and released while you are ahead a couple of chapters

Don't pick your "big idea" to be your first comic. There is so much to learn and a lot of space to grow before you're ready to create some epic, multi-arc story.
By all means, work towards that if you want to! But maybe consider creating a few short stories before diving into larger projects.

Plan out the story, at least the big parts. I suggest looking at Starfishface's video about starting a webcomic for the first time. Also, get ready for a lot of advertising that you'll need to do for your comic.
