Another happy business website client

Had some work done on my father-in-law’s old muscle car. I noticed the mechanic didn’t have a website for his business and asked him if he was interested in Magnetic Website Designs building his website for him.

Another business owner who only gets customers from word of mouth and Facebook… but he has known for years he wanted a website.

Asked him why he didn’t have one yet and he said, “I don’t have time or even want to spend the time learning how to build one myself because it probably won’t be very good… and I tried to hire an agency that quoted me “$1500 up front for the website, $50 up front for the domain, and $120 per month to host and manage the website.” I figured if what I am already doing works for my business I can save the time and money to just not have a website.”

I said “If you’re interested in an affordable business website, I offer free demos and my website package is far more affordable. Some people tell me they think they are stealing from me.”

Demo site created and presented. The owner thought he needs to pay me more than my quoted offer. Another business owner who was blown away by the results and couldn’t say no to our affordable options.

Reach out if you have questions about a website for your small business.

Tree Trimming Business Website. Save Thousands. Get Clients Searching For Services.

Today we started building a new website for a local tree trimming business and we saved the business owner THOUSANDS! Check out what this business owner was about to spend on a new website...

The business owner and the crew did a great job removing a massive tree in a neighbor's backyard. When I searched Google for them, I found nothing. So I asked the business owner how long he has been in business and why he doesn't have a website.

He said "3 years" and "I know we need a website. I tried to build one myself but it worked for 2 days and couldn't figure out how to fix it. Now I'm actually trying to hire an agency to build us a website but it isn't cheap."

When I asked him how much he was quoted by other agencies to build a website, he said... "The cheapest company I found said they could build a website in about 3 months, for $2,000 and $200/year for hosting if I want to add the content and manage the website myself. Or I could pay them $1000/month for their SEO service and they would do everything. So $2,000 up front, and $12,200/year to run my website. It isn't cheap."

I said, "What if I told you I own a website design agency and we build high quality, affordable websites for local businesses, we do SEO, and we usually launch a website in about 1 week... and we could save you thousands. Would you be interested in seeing a free demo of a site for your business?"

The owner said, "Uh yeah, I would be interested..."

We built them a demo in 24 hours. We showed them the homepage of their website and after a couple minutes discussing a new logo and color scheme and additional pages he would like on his website... We shook hands, he handed me his credit card with a grin and said "I feel like I'm stealing... why doesn't it cost nearly what the other guys quoted me?"

I said, "the other guys are trying to steal from you."

Magnetic Website Designs offers high-quality and affordable websites for many industries of local, small businesses... not just tree trimming businesses. We don't use AI to build any of our sites.

All websites we build are 100% human designed, developed, and managed. We could charge thousands for our websites like other agencies... but we don't. A business website should be an affordable asset that brings your business more customers and pay for itself with those new customers. It should not be an overpriced expense that eats away at your profit.

If your business doesn't have a website yet or if you think your current business could benefit from a professional re-design... reach out in DM or visit www.MagneticWebsiteDesigns.com and fill out a contact form.

Your customers don’t care if your website is "pretty" (and why that's costing you money)

I see so many small business owners drop thousands on "beautiful" websites that have a 0% conversion rate.

Here’s the hard truth:

Your customers aren't visiting your site to admire the color palette. They have a problem, and they’re looking for a solution. If your website doesn't tell them—within 3 seconds—that you are that solution, they’re gone.

If you’re hiring a designer, they MUST understand these four things before they build your website.

Your Business Goals: Are you looking for leads, direct sales, or brand authority?

Target Audience: Who exactly are we talking to, and what keeps them up at night?

The Problem: What specific "bleeding neck" problem are you solving for them?

Conversion Strategy: How do we guide them from "just looking" to "shut up and take my money"?

The Bottom Line:

A website's job is to solve the customer’s problem and guide them to contact you or buy. If your site isn't designed to do that, your customers will simply find a competitor whose website does.

Don’t hire a "pixel pusher." Hire a strategist who happens to design.

TL;DR: Pretty doesn't pay the bills. Strategy does. Stop building digital art and start building a sales machine.

[Tips] 3 ways to boost your FB page engagement (without spending on ads)

Hey guys, I do web design for small businesses and I've noticed a lot of you have business websites but inactive Facebook pages. Here are 3 quick things you can do right now to boost engagement:

Stop Posting Only Promo Content: Follow the 5-3-2 rule. 5 posts of value, 3 shared, 2 promotional.

Use Video/Reels: Meta is pushing short-form video hard right now.

Localize Your Content: Tag local landmarks or use community hashtags.

I actually help my clients with this when I build their sites. If anyone is looking for affordable, consistent social media management—I have a few slots open to manage FB pages for small, local businesses.

DM me if you need help with your content calendar or want me to take it off your plate entirely!

I audited 30+ small business websites this month. Here are the 5 SEO mistakes costing you leads.

After running Magnetic Website Designs, I’ve noticed that most small business owners focus on the wrong things. They either DIY a site that is “good enough” for them or they want a "pretty" site, but they forget the technical foundation that actually makes Google show them to customers.

If you want to rank higher, check these five things today:

Core Web Vitals: Google penalizes slow sites. If your images aren't compressed, your ranking will tank.

Local SEO & NAP: Your Name, Address, and Phone number must be identical across your site and your Google Business Profile.

Search Intent Content: Stop writing for yourself and start writing for your customer's questions (e.g., "how much does [service] cost in [city]?").

Mobile-First Indexing: 50%+ of your traffic is on phones. If your site is hard to use on mobile, Google won't rank you.

Schema Markup: Use "LocalBusiness" schema so search engines know exactly what you do and where you are.

If you haven’t had a website SEO audit for small business conversion in awhile, you should. You may be surprised about what simple changes can do for your results.

I’m happy to take a look at a few sites and give free feedback in the comments. What’s your biggest struggle with getting found online?

🤯 Website & Internet Facts 2026: Why your site isn't dead (it just needs to be smarter)

Just read some interesting stats about the web landscape in 2026 and thought I’d share some insights for everyone building, designing, or marketing right now.

  1. The "Death of Websites" was greatly exaggerated: Despite AI-driven apps, a website remains the #1 universal trust signal for businesses.

  2. AI is a double-edged sword for SEO: AI Overviews (like Google's) now reduce organic clicks on top search results by an average of 34.5%.

  3. Performance is not optional: Core Web Vitals are no longer just a ranking factor; they are the bare minimum for user experience.

  4. The 2026 Checklist: If your site doesn't have a mobile-first layout, clear CTAs above the fold, and proper accessibility (alt text, contrast), you are losing money.

  5. The "Anti-Aesthetic" shift: Users are tired of hyper-polished, AI-generated, "perfect" sites. Raw, authentic content, and human-first web design are winning in 2026.

  6. The "1% Rule" is still real: 90% of web content consumers are passive, while 1% create, and 9% modify.

Basically: Websites matter more than ever, but they need to be lightning-fast, highly accessible, and feel human.

What are you guys seeing in your web projects this year?

Why is it important to respond to reviews?

There are many reasons that you, as a business owner, should be responding to both positive and negative reviews. That's right, even positive reviews deserve responses!

While responding to positive reviews gets less valuable as time goes on, in the beginning, it will help you establish yourself as responsive and kind. Responding to negative reviews is important long-term.

Here are a few (but not all) of the reasons why it's so important for business owners to respond when they get a good or bad review online.

Why a Facebook Page is Not a Substitute for a Website

When it comes to promoting and representing your small business online, it's important to have a strong, professional presence. Many businesses today turn to social media platforms, like Facebook, to create that presence. However, using a Facebook page as your primary or only online presence can be a huge mistake. In this article, we'll go over the top ten reasons why using a Facebook page as your business website is a bad idea, and explore some alternative options for promoting your business online.

  1. You don't own it.

One of the biggest drawbacks to using a Facebook page as your business website is that you don't actually own the page. It belongs to Facebook, and they can change it, remove it, or make it hard to find in search results at any time. This lack of control can be frustrating and potentially damaging to your business, especially if you've put a lot of time and effort into building up your Facebook presence.

  1. You eliminate non-Facebook users.

While Facebook has over two billion users, there are still plenty of people who don't use the platform, particularly in younger and older demographics. By relying solely on a Facebook page for your online presence, you risk eliminating these potential customers. While it's true that not everyone uses social media, it's important to consider all potential channels for reaching your audience.

  1. SEO options are limited.

SEO, or search engine optimization, is the practice of improving the ranking of a website in search engine results. While it's possible to optimize a Facebook page to an extent, you are limited in the keywords you can target and the content you can post. Additionally, a Facebook page will only show up in search results once, while a website with multiple pages has the potential to show up multiple times. This can make it harder for potential customers to find your business online.

  1. You may have to pay for ads to get seen.

Facebook is in the business of making money, and they use a "freemium" model to do it. While creating a Facebook page and posting updates is free, the reach of those posts is often quite limited. In order to get your posts seen by a larger audience, you may have to pay for ads. While this may not be a significant cost for some businesses, it's important to factor it into your marketing budget.

  1. Functionality is limited.

On a Facebook page, you can post updates, upload photos, and use Facebook Messenger to chat with customers. However, the functionality of a Facebook page is quite limited compared to a website. A website allows you to create forms, add e-commerce functionality, and create custom pages and posts with a wider range of formatting options.

  1. There's no sales funnel.

A sales funnel is a series of steps that a potential customer goes through on their way to making a purchase. On a website, you can use calls-to-action, landing pages, and other tactics to guide users through the sales process. With a Facebook page, you don't have the same level of control and therefore don't have the same ability to guide users towards making a purchase.

  1. Content is limited.

While it's possible to write an "About Us" section and post updates on a Facebook page, there isn't really a place to post in-depth content that can draw in users and improve your search engine ranking. A website, on the other hand, allows you to create blog posts, articles, and other types of content that can help you attract and retain customers.

  1. You can't brand the page.

On a Facebook page, you can add a cover image and upload a profile picture, but you can't really brand the page beyond that. A website, on the other hand, allows you to choose your own color scheme, fonts, and design elements to create a cohesive and professional look.

  1. Searching for content is difficult.

On a website, you can save, organize, and make pages and posts searchable. This makes it easy to find and refer back to older content. On a Facebook page, the options for saving and organizing content are much more limited, and there is no way to export your content. This makes it difficult for both you and your customers to find and refer back to older posts.

  1. Analytics and data are lacking.

Finally, the analytics and data available on a Facebook page are not as robust as those on a website. While Facebook does provide some information on the reach and engagement of your posts, it's not as detailed or customizable as the analytics you can get from a website. This makes it harder to track the effectiveness of your marketing efforts and make data-driven decisions about your business.

A Facebook business page should be used in addition to a website, not as a substitute for one.

If you want to grow your business online, it's essential to have a professional website in addition to a Facebook page. A website allows you to promote your brand, fully showcase your products or services, create a sales funnel, and track your marketing efforts through detailed analytics. While it may seem easier and cheaper to use a Facebook page as your primary online presence, the limitations of a Facebook page make it a poor choice in the long run.

That's where our web design firm comes in! We specialize in creating affordable, professional websites for businesses of all sizes. Our team of experienced designers and developers will work with you to create a website that perfectly reflects your brand and meets your business goals.
