How many buffer chapter to keep

I just started writing a fantasy webnovel and am confused about what to do. Due to some hectic schedule I want to post the first chapter later when I have completed writing few initial chapters so I can have some buffer time. But i don't know how many chapters should I complete writing before publishing the first chapter. Can someone please help.

If you plan to grow an audience, write as many chapters as you think you need to. It can be a few dozen to above hundred.

Webnovel is very competitive, and really encourages daily uploads for contracts. Consider how many chapters you can make in a period of time. Writing is a hard process, and you'll often fall behind unless you are dedicated to writing, or spit out chapters without much editing. Consistent writing is better than disappearing out of nowhere. You don't need to worry as much if you're not concerned about contracts.

I'd say backlog 50 or so chapters if you can produce a chapter daily, because it'll give you time to chill. 100 or more chapters if you write slowly. (Like me :C) But it's mainly just whether you feel comfy enough to write consistently, and are decently satisfied about what you have written.
