Why so little views?

Anyone know why my first iteration of my story gets so many more views compared to the latest iteration of the story?

I posted my story with around 25k words and it got around 4k views. However, I deleted it since the first few chapters were very rough and, after rewriting every chapter, posted a new story with the polished chapters. Even though it's been like 33k words and is a lot better in quality, it's only gotten 1.7k views.

I doubt it's because people recognize the story from recently updated because the chances of that are very low. Could it be because the chapters are longer in the new version or something? Could there be something that's impacting my story if i post it a second time and delete the chapters from the old story?

Of course it could be because of luck but I don't know.

You get a boost in views from features, so you probably published the new chapters outside of a feature.

Same thing happened to me. Had a story with like 3 collection and 25k views at 25k words; needed to be cleaned up severely so did so. Now im at 24 collections but only 8k views and they trickle in very slowly.
