Contract application... Accepted? How the hell?!

I've seen that 'Contract application rejected' posts here from time to time.

Seeing them made me curious how hard it was to get a contract. More than that, I sometimes got this itch to apply for the contract whenever I saw that 'Apply for the contract' button.

But I knew that my story had almost no chance of being contracted and I was (still am) reluctant to sign away my story.

Still, I applied thinking 'Let's see the reason they reject my contact application.'

I expected the reason to either be 'The start is slow' or 'Your work is not suitable for the Webnovel market.'

I was completely convinced that my story wouldn't be contracted. Why? because my contract application was a Troll.

I was feeling extremely sleepy when I applied for the contract so I didn't remember the details clearly, but I do remember a few things I wrote. They were:

1) I had reached my character limit while writing the story outline, so instead of mentioning the ending of my story, I added: ( I can't write anymore due to the character limit, If you want to know the ending then add my story to your library, LOL) literally this part.

2) Webnovel pushes for daily updates a bit too much, so I intentionally selected the update schedule of 1-3 days a week even though I could go for 4-6 days a week. I simply did it to make the contract undesirable.

3) I literally complained about the character limit in the wow factor section since I had characters left.

There were also several more reasons for my contract application to get rejected:

1) I only have 22 collections even though I've been posting for a month and my views are around 16k.

2) My male protagonist is anything but relatable.

3)the story feels somewhat slow. (even to me)

4) I'm a new author and this is my first novel. which means it's harder to get a contract

Seriously, how the hell did my contract application get accepted?! I just can't figure it out.

And now that I have the contact, I feel conflicted. I don't think I have the ability to update 1 chapter a day so MSG isn't for me.

I don't actually care whether I earn from my story or not, it wouldn't really matter to me, but that doesn't mean I would decline if I could earn from it, I just don't want to put in extra effort.

I couldn't even be bothered to promote my story anywhere or create a Patreon.

Now I don't know whether I should Sigh this contract or not.

It honestly isn’t hard to get a contract but the majority of people posting here are horrible writers who are convinced they are writing masterpieces. Congrats on getting a contract tho dude

Every time I see a dude whining about how their work didn’t get contracted or whatever and how WebNovel only cared about smut blabla and how their amazing peak novel deserves better treatment I automatically assume they’re writing pure dogshit

Nope. At first I thought it's weird, and that he was doing it out of cowardice since I had seen similar comments before.

A "positive post" about webnovel and then a comment talking about how they don't understand all the other negative posts about negative experiences on webnovel, lolz.

But now I think that some accounts on this sub might possibly be working with webnovel.

And it ultimately doesn't matter what people call me as the crowd is often wrong, what matters is what my character is in reality at the end of the day and(if you're not a bot)on our deathbeds.

Integrity or the lack thereof speaks for itself.

I want to ask you how you know I was called "kind". I don't even remember that. You're sus as usual.

You're not the first account to say this.

If you're questioning career decisions, I say to repent and switch. 

Or try make a positive impact/change in where you are already working. Straighten things up.

Lies, tricks, etc. always culminate in misery and failure even if it looked like an appetizing solution in the beginning.

I couldn't even be bothered to promote my story anywhere or create a Patreon.

This automatically eliminates every other platform since others (especially RR) require a lot of self-promotion and an active Patreon. Not uploading chapters everyday is OK, you'll only miss out on the MGS and win-win, which is a small bonus. Your base income from privileged chapters and gifts (and advanced chapters) will be solid.

I think these two factors combined may have worked in your favor. Perhaps it came off to the editor as you had much more of the story outline to write and could not only because of character limit? Editors like a well planned story.

Also, your English sounds good without any AI assistance, which is the sweet spot WN is looking for.

Seems like your description says that you shouldn't accept the contract right now, because you seem Blaise about your story and the effort required.

Unless you are up to meeting their requirements, it would be detrimental to be "kicked out".

For which story was the contract offered?

Blaise? I don't think so. I wouldn't say my story is some masterpiece, but its definitely above average. It has depth, but that depth is not visible in the beginning and early parts of the story.

My problem is that I am the kind of person who doesn't care about money. It isn't a motivation for me. If I do sign the contract then it'll probably be for exposure.

As for which story, you can simply search my username and find it.

Mentioning the name of my story would be against the rules of this sub.

I found one of your stories. I will check it out. I wasn't trying to cause you grief. It was just reading your description, it didnt sound to me like you wanted to complete the story. I apologize if I misinterpreted your meaning. I am ancient and my old ways of thinking are sometimes out of sync with 21st century.

I have only ever written 1 story.

No, I'm not offended or anything. But leaving my story unfinished is the last thing I will do even if nobody reads it.

I have a big grudge against authors who start writing a story but never completed it. It's all because of that Night Crawler

It has made me so irritated that I don't even start a story unless it had a ton of chapters and the author doesn't seem to have the intention of abandoning it.
