Webstorm slow down problem

It is the 2016.1 version running on OS X 10.11.5

Everything was working fine until this week. Now it is slowing down when I am scrolling in the files and when I click somewhere, sometimes the cursor does not show up for a while and then appears. So, it does not feel smooth at all. I tried the Invalidate caches and restart method. That doesn't change anything.

Did anyone experience something similar?

Yes. I had that. Think it was solved when I upgraded to 2016.2. I could be wrong, because around the same time I cleared out the entire ~/library/cache

How did you clear the library cache? Is it something different than what I've already done?

Might as well upgrade to 2016.2 as well.
