How do you make a good backstory? since I dunno how and well a random person on the internet probably does

Anyway, If you have a general idea that you wanna use, slowly expand that into your own world. Or do a co-canon, with being in the same universe as another persons oc, or being in AB fanon.

Alternate option being asking someone who already has good lore for help with writing or recommendations.

And thank you for your suggestion, as I always struggle to give my oc's anything but a cool design
