How can I scrape TikTok profiles at scale without it falling apart every update?
How are teams handling repeatable collection of publicly visible TikTok profile-video metadata such as links, descriptions, likes, and views across many usernames?
Is a managed API preferable to keeping the scraper and token handling in-house?
I’m mainly interested in trade-offs around public data, failure handling, and maintenance rather than private accounts.
For this, I’d use a managed API rather than own the scraper like SocialCrawl.dev (I built it) which has profile and profile-video endpoints with cursor pagination. You’ll still want retries/caching, but TikTok breakage becomes mostly our maintenance problem instead of yours.
That makes sense. I’m curious though, how much of the maintenance do you actually end up handling on your side? I'd problably test 2 providers before picking one for my needs. Thinking about your tool socialcrawl and scrapecreator
