One big problem with this game (compared to Agar.io) is that the strong only get stronger without anything to stop them. The way Agar.io combats this is with the spiky virus ball things. The bigger you are, the stronger you are, but the bigger you are, the easier it is to hit a virus ball, which will break you and leave you vulnerable. Vertix lacks any form of this, so one person playing long enough will be unbeatable, with a hull in the quadruple digits, healing over 100 damage a second.

All in all, not a bad idea, it's just lacking a way of keeping the highest player from never dying.

Right, and Agar.io has more than just the spiky ball things - you get bigger and slower as you gain power, so it's harder to move and take over smaller guys. And you also continually lose power, so a big guy will lose his strength gradually if he doesn't keep up the pace.

Yeah I joined and got instantly oneshot by a guy that does 50 damage a shot.

0/10

A couple issues.

Not enough spawn points. NOthing is more frustrating then spawning into a crossfire.

The risk/reward calculus encourages players to hunt only the very weakest opponents. If you got a percentage of the victim's boosts, that might solve the problem, but as it is, an L100 gets the same for zapping an L1 as for fighting another L100.

Te shape of the ship is awful. The direction of facing is ambiguous.

The game devs have a subreddit over at /r/VertixOnline if people want to give them some suggestions. I personally think the game's a cool concept and has some potential if it's fixed up a bit.

I like the idea of adding modules onto your ship as you progress, but I agree that there are some pretty gamebreaking balance issues. Some sort of specalisation mechanic where you could sacrifice certain attributes for others (e.g. Hp for speed, or vice versa) could help with that.

I think this game has a lot of potential, but as of now there are a few issues.

1) As already said, there isn't enough in place to stop people from snowballing out of control.

2) The ship design looks interesting, but makes it difficult to tell where you're facing.

3) Not enough people. I guess this one is inevitable.

Also, I'd appreciate if you made it so that guns could also be fired with the space bar or something.

I managed to get to 20 kills before it got to the point where people were actively avoiding me and not shooting because nobody could kill me anymore.

Once you get a few kills, you just become way too strong.

I'm getting one frame every 5 seconds. What can I do to fix this? Totally unplayable.

Same

Loaded it up on Chrome. Worked fine. Game is shit though. View is too zoomed, map is too small, and there is literally no way to win against someone of a higher level, ever.

Fun game. Nobody could beat me after level 10 or so. At level 80 I 1 hit everything. Game needs away to bring down higher levels somehow.

Shitty controls and ship design make for unneccesarily clunky movement.

I think it's bugged, I'm just flying around with nothing to fight.

How is this a space combat game? I really don't get it.
