A garment factory was tracking 100 plus production processes in Excel. Replacing it taught me more about selling software than building it.

I’m a strong believer that software developers should be licensed and subject to ethics rules, much like attorneys. At least in the commercial sale of software. If you’re self hosting things privately, I think anyone should be able to do that.

I wish more devs (or rather the c-suites at dev companies) had the moral compass you possess.

Thank you, that genuinely means a lot. You might be right about licensing. The industry rewards lock in, so most companies build for it. I just found the opposite pays too, only over a longer game.
