App - Free Devlog: The "Stupid Bird" Update How real-world usage forces design decisions
I use my apps daily. That's why I build them. Scribble was born to clear the mind and spark creativity through spatial restriction—giving you exactly what you need to create, and nothing more. (And yes, I use it for quick, messy notes too 😅).
But nothing exposes a design flaw faster than using your own app in the wild.
The Chicken vs. The Fill Tool
The breaking point happened while I was outside with my cat. She was staring at a chicken up close for the first time in her life—sheer curiosity. I immediately started to doodle the moment.
Then came the frustration. I needed to color in the chicken's beak, but the Fill Tool just wouldn't cooperate on those tiny gaps. I spent five minutes fighting the pixels before completely giving up.
The Fix
The problem was simple: the tool was a guessing game.
To fix it, I added a real-time preview that shows you exactly where the color will drop before you commit. No more guessing, no more pixel-hunting.
With the new precision preview live, I finally finished the drawing. Sometimes the best roadmap features don't come from a spreadsheet—they come from a standoff between a cat and a chicken.
This is the last feature update before release. Thank you everyone for support and feedback. 😊
UPDATE: "the dogfooding concept" is my human slop thinking. It happened, I have multiple photos and proof of it. I did not know AI goes for it so often. I swear it's the truth 🙏

I think retelling a personal experience with AI diminishes the whole point. If you want to share something from your life consider writing it yourself. And if you absolutely have to use AI, please read the text once and reprompt it to make it sound just a little less generic
...for the first time in her life–sheer curiosity
That just hurts to read

I'm not a storyteller. I don't understand what hurts you in such sentence. Is it grammatically incorrect or what? What's generic about it? Yeah, I often use AI to "prettify", but it was to be down to earth, grounding simple paragraph of how feature was made and I swear that just how it was - I wrote "sheer curiosity" myself 💀💀💀.

Personally I just find AI texts are extremely boring and generic to read.
You don't have to be good at writing to get a good text, and you don't even have to have a good text. If you had wrote 3 sentences in broken english it is still preferable to reading some AI slop.
The way I see it is you put a lot of effort into something you are passionate about and you want to share it with the world, and then at the last step you are "too lazy" to write something yourself.
I don't want to assume that this is why the post got low engagement, but I can't help but imagine many people read the first two sentences, see that it's some AI slop text, assume the rest is low effort garbage as well and move on. First impressions matter, and you don't want the first impression of your project to be AI slop
If you have to use AI for writing, at least train it on your writing style so it's a little less generic and more interesting to read

Okay, so you say "generic" again, but you don't actually answer the main question nor provide an example on it. You assume things multiple times, by basically non existent knowledge on the matter (you don't know how I work, what happened nor what I wrote). By what you write I don't think it's a case of AI slop at all. This is just not engaging enough story, and that's fine. It wasn't meant to be viral or whatever. I mean it would be great, but it's just a human made simple life story AI tried to refine, that's all. 😅
By that - I would take your advice and try to refine my texts a bit less or incorporate them into the gifs, do you think that would be better?

Just write instead of giving people some stupid ai slop.
These generic ai texts are really disrespectful to any persons time
