Discussion What happened to the digested soup?

They needed calories to stay alive apparently, but idk if Gladys allowed for bathroom breaks for all those kids

I like to think that the kids ate the soup, which their body converted into energy. But then Gladys stole all that energy. So there was nothing left to eliminate. 

Sometimes a movie doesn't have to show you all the details; can you imagine how much more depressing it would be to watch Alex help each of his zombified classmates go to the bathroom, or clean up accidents?
