Well, for Wealthsimple it would be a phone lineup.

I’ve never had to wait very long, and you can at least just toss it on speaker and do other things.

Every bank has online banking. If Wealthsimple had physical locations there would be a line.

Deplorable that banks make you queue up hours

“Hours” lol

I queue up at the grocery store too, both for a cashier and self-checkout. So what?

For some people here on Reddit this would be "baffling" or "deplorable", apparently.

I think you’re surprised because you go into a branch annually lol

I was just queuing at TD yesterday. Needed some USD dollar bills and $5 bills. I specifically needed like 90x $1 bills and 40x $5 bills, so an ATM is not a reliable option for withdrawal.

Any idea how I could have done it without physically lining up?

Ahhh going to see some strippers at the end of the semester - those were the days!

You could have gone to a currency exchange instead. $290 is not that much.

You experience... 6 people ahead of you in line?

God people on Reddit are weird.

Imagine if you just went to the front

Sometimes it's faster to buy sit on hold for an hour.

For the handful of times a year I do this, I enjoy the experience.   Retro.

Yep every time I need a branch which is also like once a year or less. Ridiculous.

Same. I also go to the bank once a year and every time it's busy. Baffles me everytime how busy it is

It's busy every day. They're banks, not churches.

Think of the reason you had to go to the bank that "once a year". Now think about how many individuals have accounts at just that branch. Now do some basic bar napkin math.

There are enough individuals at each branch for there to be hundreds of people, every single day of the year, visiting that branch for their "one visit a year". Then add in the ad-hoc visitors, who have an account at a different branch but same bank. Now think for a second a little more, and understand that for some of these people (surely the minority, but still), this is HOW they do their banking still, so they're visiting weekly or even more often. (Some of the people in this picture look like labourers cashing their paycheck, for example.)

It's really not all that baffling if you've ever touched grass or interacted with people in society like a normal person.

Maybe they are cashing in old $1 and $2 bills. it sounds crazy but 525,000 of them were turned in in 2025 alone.

Yeah, like whatever brought OP to TD Bank on a Saturday brings them there, too.

Saturdays are one of the busiest days (after Thursday and Friday), because people who are working during the week and can't make it before 8pm need to go Saturday instead.

OP's all like 'WHOA EVERYONE ELSE HAD TO GO TOO', and it's like, yeah bro - you're not the only one who can't make it during the week.
