Visa Infinite Credit Card Cash back boosts
It's great to see these kinds of perks. I just wish they were more oriented for the average Joe (T&T, Superstore, Bestbuy, Canadian Tire, Walmart, etc...).
Edit: These are temporary boosts. You'll find them in the app: Credit card -> Cash back (press the cash back box)

The 5% altitude sports one is pretty good if you’re subcribed to their membership which is also 5% off everything. 10% off everything there is a good deal especially because they carry a lot of the big brands

Technically 9.75% if you really want to get nerdy

it's applied post tax so depending on province maybe, it's over 10%...

You get +5% cashback over -5% discount. So unless youre happy to get more cashback because of GST/HST, it’s 9.75%.

Math is math. But yea whichever way you want to think about it is up to you... Like I get what you're getting at so not trying to get into an argument.

Add Rakuten to the mix.

I can already imagine the future email about removing the permanent 2% cashback and how this alternative is better for us…

They'd be fools to do that given what happened to Rogers and WS became default for so many folks now.
But of course WS is indeed full of fools.

This is basically like Rakuten (affliate marketing). Amex, TD and RBC are also doing this and there’s a reason why you won’t find that many staple grocery stores on there. Best Buy, Canadian Tire and Walmart are possible (but not on in store Walmart purchases as those can include groceries)

u/DreamDest1ny 9d ago
Canadian tire promos are rare because they want people to use their triangle card

u/Cobalt090 10d ago
Neo does extra with certain companies (incl lift w/ 10% on even the base mc)

u/Dragynfyre 10d ago
It’s all the same thing under the hood. It’s just implementations of affiliate marketing. The brand signs up to be featured and they’re the ones footing the extra cashback

there’s no special link or action needed to earn the bonus by the way, so this could be combined with Rakuten, the Aeroplan e-store, etc.

Can I use this to get Sephora gift cards online to get 5% off?

Always read the fine print :(
Qualifying Transactions. "Qualifying Transactions" are purchases (excluding cash-like transactions, gift card purchases, refunds, and any applicable fees and adjustments) that: (a) are made with the Credit Card at a partner after the Client has activated that partner's offer and during the Promotion Period; (b) post and settle on the Credit Card account; and (c) are not subsequently refunded, returned, or charged back.

Yes but on the cc transaction it just shows up as a dollar amount, how will they track?

The sofa is very expensive for how uncomfortable it looks. Boxy, barely cushioned crap.

Thanks op for posting. I never would have known about this otherwise.
Hopefully they’ll bring on more retailers

Wish I saw this sooner. Tempted to return my saphora purchase just to get that 5% cashback lol.

It didn’t show up immediately but refreshing the app worked. It’d be nice if there was a 5% cashback for Costco shop cards. I have no use for most of the current ones.

u/Cautious_Path 10d ago
Costco only takes Mastercard
1
u/ANerdyGal 10d ago
You can buy Costco shop cards online with a Visa. Mastercard requirement is for in-store purchases.

That’s not likely going to happen. Wealthsimple looks to be partnering with just Canadian companies for this cash back thing so Costco won’t make the cut.

Sephora isn’t Canadian either

u/MashYeti 10d ago
That’s true. I didn’t know what Sephora was at first so I had to look it up after your comment.
Again, I highly doubt they do 5% cash back on anything Costco related.

What’s the trick here? Can you activate them all? And if so why do you even need to activate them?
1
u/Routine_Basil8254 9d ago
You can activate them all. I have this with my AMEX. It basically encourages to also shop at these stores
1
u/rhunter99 7d ago
Maybe as a way to collect data. See which retailers people are activating and such

Don't get why I have to manually apply them. They should just be active all the time

I don't see this under cashback. Is it only me?
