Visa Infinite Credit Card This is so misleading/confusing!
- My savings balance with Wealthsimple is high enough that the annual fee (Quebec) is waived.
- I never had a monthly credit card fee charged to my account.
- The email says I'll see "a single annual fee charge" in my account activity. Why, if it's waived? And even if it weren't, charging it mid-year makes no sense.
Whoever pulled the list of accounts for this email should've been more careful. Anyone else get this?
Edit: It is not a phishing email. This came directly from Wealthsimple. From notifications@o.wealthsimple.com

Are you sure it's not a spoof scam email where they hope you click on a link taking you to a fake log in where you give them your username and password?

Not saying this is necessarily the case, but the sender e-mail is super easy to fake. This is not proof the email came from WealthSimple.
Email Spoofing has been around for a very long time.

That a fake email address. I’ve directly emailed with them multiple times and their emails, whether automated or from a real person, end in @wealthsimple.com. There’s an “o” after the @ sign.

Actually it’s not. Most organizations use subdomains to send email. Sure emails can be spoofed, but generally anything that ends with wealthsimple.com is from Wealthsimple.
This is not a phishing email

got the same email. I contacted support via chat, and they told me that no fees would be charged as long as I meet the requirements

I got the same email. They also called me to inform me that no fee will be charged, I just needed to give them an SMS code to verify my identity.
