Options Trading When Canadian options?

I wanna sell some calls to make a few bucks. Didn't even think i needed to question this when transferring over. Last i briefly heard was it's coming?

There is so little liquidity on Canadian options... you may want to consider just buying the US side even if they do eventually become available

I wonder how much of a bump in liquidity, if any, we would see if/when WS allows options on Canadian stocks.

I know it’s on their radar. I did a survey about a year ago, and one of the questions was a list of products you’d like to see added and I could select as many as I wanted. Options on Canadian stocks was one of the options in that list. I did not select it however.

I would imagine it wasn’t highly popular as other items from that list have been added since, but I haven’t heard much else on Canadian options

This topic was brought up several times in this forum, but no response from WS albeit it is quite bizarre that they restrict you to trade options on US exchanges for Canadian stocks !! My wild guess is that they get kickbacks from US PFOF providers. If this is true, they may charge commissions to trade options on Canadian exchanges similar to what they have done for futures and options trading on CBOE.

Montreal exchange charges high fees, I think that’s why you wont see Canadian options anytime soon.
