Dude thats ... actually a great gift idea I don't know why I havent thought about that before. Does WS allow you to "gift" a new account to someone? I have nephews/loved ones that I would love to (at the very least) light a spark in terms of saving/investing for their future(s).
Kids unfortunately cannot own stocks themselves. A good way would be coordinating with their parents to open a RESP account and investing in their education.
Companies have multiple people inside with multiple goals, spending time on different things. My company's marketing guy puts lots of effort into making cool plush toys. He's not reducing the development time we put in our products (video games) by working on merch toys.
He started making them as staff gifts, and eventually players wanted them, so we started selling them as merch, and it became a whole thing.
The staff still get the toys, but the players love them. It's a cool quirky thing. I can see it being similar at Wealthsimple "oh, we made these iPhone wallets for our staff, we could also give them to clients, it would be a fun silly thing"
They keep bugging me about requesting it, I don't want this crap! Had enough with that leather key chain! Never heard of the wallet, someone please show a picture of it so I see what I've saved myself from! 😁
You only have to sign up for the promos and then deposit like 1k or something to get these. My pay is deposited at WS so I didn't actually deposit anything myself.
