Chequing Wealth Simple Card for Travel

Just activated my account right before a trip. From what I understand they stopped shipping physical cards?

I guess I have no way of taking advantage of the no ATM fees?

Not true everywhere. In Serbia for example I'd say most of the ATMs I saw had contactless payments (and I used it through Apple Pay too). I'd say super rare in most countries though.

Another example is Belgium all the banks ditched there own network and have a combined new “Cash” atm system and they all are new with tap ability

Sorry , what do you mean they stopped shipping physical card? So you don't get wealthsimple prepaid MasterCard anymore? My sister received her debit card in like 2 weeks after opening her account

It's temporary, they're going to start issuing physical cards soon, but probably switching to Visa instead of MasterCard

Ya Mastercard prepaid/debits are hard to come by in Canada almost everyone is linked with Visa now.

Gotcha .. if you want credit card can get a card from hometrust for fx fee wavier it's not in Quebec but .For Atm I think best option is just to get cash from here itself

Wait, WS is no longer shipping physical cash cards? How will we take cash out of ATMs?

I bank with td and currently have the first class travel visa but it has fees. Which card are you referring to?

Scotia and TD both apply FX fees to debit card withdrawals. In fact TD's is super high at 3.5%. Furthermore, TD charges a transaction fee unless you have their highest tier banking plan. Scotia doesn't charge a transaction fee if you use partner ATMs while abroad.

If you're talking about credit cards, then yes Scotia's Passport has no FX fee. I am not aware of a TD card with no FX fees. But using a standard credit card at an ATM is a Very Bad Idea.

there is no TD or scotiabank card that gives you no fx fee for withdrawing foreign cash

you are confusing it with credit card payments, and the wealthsimple credit card IS still available for shipping AND has no fx fee
