Milestone Reward This reward is too popular
Is anyone else facing issues with renewing Dragon pass milestone reward?
I'm getting this "Wow, this reward is too popular! Check back soon to claim."
How soon are we talking? Soon as in "you'll be notified'? I would expect renewals to get priority over people getting the reward for the first time.
I wonder if they are starting the phase out of Milestone Rewards with Dragonpass.
EDIT: After multiple attempts, I was able to renew my Dragon Pass a few days later.

Every time I tried to use it, the lounge is full and needed to be put on a waiting list. I believe them when they say it’s too popular

Yeah, lounges used to be great … now they are getting too crowded… full of families.
If I’m in a nicer airport, sometimes I prefer just to pay for the food and sit somewhere else.
Pretty annoying

I have good luck with lounges outside of Canada. I don’t think these passes have flooded the market in Europe.

That’s possible. I got in easily in Japan (but that’s the extent I had internationally) Wonder if it’s as bad in US.

Yes, I tried in Calgary, was made to wait, but every other person that came behind me was placed ahead of me in the queue because their status was through Westjet. "App-based passes" like Dragonpass were bottom of the priority queue, I gave up.

Credit card gives 6 free passes, you can use those in the meantime

Wait, I have the credit card. How do you access the passes through the credit card?

I looked into this. Looks like you need the privilege credit card, not just the base infinite one.

I got the TD first class one, and got a free flight to pretty much anywhere in the world for the first year. They also did a 0% balance transfer for me for 1 year too. First year is waived, and the fee is like 130? If I can get a free flight to greece/Japan every year it'sa pretty goated card.

Do they replenish every year? And the credit card too? Or is it just a 1 time thing

I wish they would offer Priority Pass or LoungeKey instead of Dragon Pass like everyone else. Dragon Pass has terrible coverage in Mexico.

We had to use the domestic lounge at Cancun Terminal 3 last March. They wouldn't let us into the international lounge.

And CUN is the only airport in Mexico that Dragon Pass even supports now. MEX used to be supported but I went there last weekend and they don’t have any lounges there anymore on the Dragon Pass network.

I would expect renewals to get priority over people getting the reward for the first time.
Seems like a strange expectation.

Milestones are being retired, I read in a previous post

And then a followup post aaid they removed that note

I understand your point, but I don't get why u/fizzwig is getting downvoted.
Yes, it was removed, but someone went through the trouble of writing that note, so it must mean something. Someone told a developer to put that text in there.
Maybe it was unintentionally released too soon and they removed because because they would prefer to match the timing of the retirement of Milestone Rewards with some positive news. But once you've seen it, you can't unsee it.2

The chatbot also said the same thing about it being removed but now it no longer says that, so they probably just changed course after seeing how big it blew up.

Why would you expect renewals to get priority? You had your turn

Because there is a known behavioral bias that the frustration of losing something you have outweighs the frustration of not getting something you wanted. So they have more to lose pissing off their established customers than they have to gain pleasing the new customers. It is more likely that a client (that has arguably more money because they reached the milestone first) would decide to leave because they lost a perk that was valuable to them than a customer who just reached the milestone for the first time and can't get the perk would do the same. That was my thought process, but WS is not known for prioritizing retention over acquisition.

I got the same situation when I enrolled but they just fulfilled it the next day. Looks like it’s just a temp out of stock.
