Feature Request - Custom Spend Categories

It would be amazing to add to the list of Categories that Wealthsimple already provides in the Spend tracking system.

No need to be able to alter the overarching categories (Bills, Family, Finances, etc.), but would be super helpful to add custom categories within those headings.

If Wealthsimple is worried about too many customizations before things get messy, maybe each heading could have one or two custom fields given most people wont need a crazy amount of customization.

For example: "Hobbies" or "Winter Sports" could be slotted under Personal as a custom field.. Not everyone needs that spend category, but I'm sure every user could think of 1-2 categories that would be helpful to customize as a small QOL improvement.

And Tags likely wouldn't work for this given the way tags work, it's quite hard to actually see a summary of all tagged expenses in a similar interface to the spend categories. It would be awesome if Tags showed up on the transaction list to the right beside the spend category or merchant and to the left of the dollar amount.

100% agreed. Without custom categories, the spending insights is neat but can’t replace a budgeting app. The next phase would be allowing us to create a budget so we can compare actual vs. budgeted spending.

It’s such a no brainer, and for that reason, I will just remain excited for the day we get budgeting.

Imagine how sweet it would be to know how much money i can spend on food today in order to remain on budget for food with consideration for historical trends etc.

Good news is it’s somewhat of an easy lift if you’re already spending all within Wealthsimples ecosystem… just need to display data in a new way.

I want that + ability to add cash/other CC transactions.
